My current dog.
Vizsla mix. Smart, loving, obedient, cuddly. Raised from puppy
I take her to the park off leash and she stays at my hip. I love her so damn much

Golden retriever for me. Yes they shed. Worth it.
Almost all dogs are awesome. (pitbulls excluded). But the best dogs are Goldens.
I've had 5 throughout my life and they are all that is great about dogs and more. They are the breed I will always own.
And I will happily vacuum up all the hair.

I’ve been thinking about getting one. Where did you get yours. Where should I look?

A mutt who looked like a small black lab. The mother was a brown poodle. This was in the 1960's, way before the Labradoodle had been thought of. Very smart dog with the hunting instincts of a lab. Nearly a perfect dog, if I ever get a dog again it probably will be a Labradoodle, though what they breed don't look all that much like the dog we had.

Weiner dog mix mutt we rescued when he was 6 weeks old. Had him for 15 years. Put him down this past January. I’ll miss him forever.

Villas are very specific dogs. You must allow them to release all their energy for them to be healthy and happy. Very high energy dogs. Never owned one but I've heard once they bond with you they want to around you 24/7.

German Shepherd named Sarah. Shes been gone 14 years and I still miss her every day.
They are elite among animals, brilliant, loyal, brave, protective, and playful. The Swiss army knife of canines. If you have children, there is no better pet to raise them with than a GSD. They have a very high social intelligence and see your kids as family.
They bond with humans stronger than most people, adapting, and learning your behavior and emotions.
They are the superheroes of the animal world. If you're fairly active and like having a buddy with you 247, these guys are perfect.

Generally considered dogkind's finest all-purpose worker, the German Shepherd Dog is a large, agile, muscular dog of noble character and high intelligence. Loyal, confident, courageous, and steady

If you give a GSD training and a job they will reward you with a lifetime of loyalty that is unmatched.
They also shed a little.

Not sure why you were downvoted so much but my family raised Beagles. My grandfather had about 8 of them and those dogs would not hurt a fly. Very loyal. The only issues is that damn bark and they love to chew.

Labs are hard to beat. On my 3rd right now.
Our 2nd Lab was the best. He was a chocolate Lab named Thibodeaux. Sadly, a perfectly/poorly placed tumor took him at age 7. He was just awesome.

. Best dog I ever had as a kid was a jack russell.
Get a Jack Russell mixed with a calmer terrier (like a rat terrier). Best dog you’ll ever have.

Best is a black lab / pit mix. Currently he’s 8. No issues at all. Very smart. Extremely affectionate with all people. Also will kill armadillos and squirrels like they are the most evil things ever. He’s not overly hyper. He never even chewed stuff as a pup.

My dog Buddy was a hound of some kind. Got him from the pound, and he had parvo. $1000 later, they tell me he will have no ill effects, but will probably be 25% smaller than he would have been. Had him for 13 years, until he started suffering with laryngeal paralysis. He weighed 85 pounds the day we had him put down.
He was like a brother to my young sons, a protector, and a big old lovebug. By the time he passed, I think he understood about 90% of what I said. You didn't have to correct him, just a little grumble/growl and he stopped whatever he was doing. He didn't put up with any critters around. Coons, possums, birds, anything were ran off or were mangled. Learned to tree squirrel and retrieve them in about 4 days of squirrel hunting.
They say when a dog dies it takes a piece of your heart with it, which is true. Then when you get another dog, it replaces that missing part. We haven't been able to bring ourselves to get another dog in the 3 years since we lost Buddy, so I don't know.

Husky/GSD mix. Believe it or not he is very calm, smart, behaves, and the usual - sheds a ton. Awesome dog buddy for us!
One son has 2 Goldens and they are super sweet and lovable and very smart. So, he would respond that Goldens are the best doggies.
