I was given some Dewalt stuff by my grandfather years ago and really liked their products. I kind of just stuck with their stuff.
I have also used makita and thought they were good too.
Honestly, unless you are getting into commercial use the big names are good tools and will get your jobs done well for you

I'd get the Milwaukee fuel kit from HD. It comes with a driver and drill. Brushless.
Makitas are good but they come with different battery platforms which suck bc you would need different batteries for different tools.
M18s use the same batteries for all their 18v tools. Comes in handy when you need to expand your collection.
The Fuel is pretty expensive though $399.
If it's just stuff around the house, I would buy the ryobi or ridgid. If you get the ridgid, register your tools and your batteries bc HD will replace them when they crap out.

Reading the subject of this thread and nobody stated Hitachi, shows that none here know the best value and only know their favorite colors.
Hitachi makes the best cordless tools for what you can spend and if you shop around online for reconditioned tools you can save hundreds picking up bare tools after you already have a kit with batteries and charger.
You won't find better deals, 18V Hitachi Grade A Reconditioned for $72: LINK

Milwaukee m12. I actually bought the saws all and got the hammer drill for free(home depot). I picked up the 2 pack of upgrade batteries the following week and it makes a great lightweight kit that is easier to handle and does everything I need. I haven't even touched my 18v stuff in months and I do side work several times a week

Go with Ridgid
Made in the USA and when you buy the combo sets you get a lifetime warranty on the tool and battery.

Do you have any other cordless stuff where you could share batteries?
I like the Dewalt 20V Max and Milwaukee M18 Fuel stuff.

The biggest issue with dewalt is they are moving away from 18 volt. Which everyone has batteries for. Now they have a adapter. Where you can use a 20v on an 18, but your still buying batteries which is not cheap.

All my guys at work like the new Rigids.
I've used some of these tools for my job on almost a daily basis. Dewalt 18 and 20v cordless are good and got good torque, but I find the batteries suck big time. Also at my one job, we had to replace them about every year, like clock work as they would eventually go out.
Right now we are using Rigid brushless and they are nice, but not sure how they compare on the long run. Batteries seem fine so far, but most are good for the first few months. I do know the hammerdrill sucked compared to the Dewalt for going in concrete for setting anchors. The Dewalt did look in the next class up so I can't fault the Rigid too much.
Milwaukee drills are supposed to be good, but haven't used them. I do know on their angle grinders, they only last about year of everyday industrial use. At that one job, we were replacing them almost right at one year on several of the grinders (100$ each or more). They do work good but just kept going out to fast. Not sure how they compare to dewalt grinders, but from using the dewalt drills I would wager they go out in about a year as well.

My rigid has far exceeded and outlasted my expectations

Rigid - they warrant their batteries. You have to register them but it's worth it.

Home Depot has the 18v drill with charger, 2 batts and a case for 120$ today only while they last, online only.

The M12 lineup is the best. Sawzall is the best. Impact is the best. 18v drills, circular saws, etc are all pretty much the same across quality brands.
I stopped using Hitachi after I used an 18v NiCad drill for a while. Just turned me off to the brand
OP, you can also look on Amazon for deals

quote:What model angle grinders are yall using? Only problem I've had with Milwaukee ones is the handle breaking off. If you're using them every day in an industrial application, you should know better than to get a regular one. Step it up to Metabo or Fein

If I only had one drill for housework it would be a corded dewalt. Got one for like $99 at home depot.
I have a couple small battery ones, but they don't even compare.
