I cross that bridge a few Times each month heading to Lake Charles or Texas. I’d dladly pay a few bucks a month to avoid the I-10 bridge.
My question is where will it reconnect to 1-10

Who cares if he profits off it? If he throws up the money to do it, good for him

Remember when the CCC had a roll? I can’t even imagine the backup if you put a toll both on this bridge

Proportionally distribute Federal road funds to States by Interstate-mile
I would add a vehicle tonage per mile instead of a straight interstate-mile measure for receiving funds. There are some states that have a shite load more interstate miles but less traffic, specifically heavy load traffic. The heavy truck traffic contributes more to breakdown of the roadway than a passenger car. I don’t know for certain (I’m sure there is data out there), but I would think Louisiana has one of the highest tonage per mile in the entire country, due to our smaller size and the fact that we have one of the biggest ports in the world right along the River along with all of the petroleum/chemical plants.

You can be assured that any connections to I-10 will be only one lane.

So he finances something and dares to make money on it?
Bernie has plenty of room for the "give me your money" crew.

Take my money...now!
Set up a capital campaign and sell 1-yr toll pre-construction packages for fund raising!

the fact that you would even say that is ridiculous
baton rouge traffic is already a fricking nightmare, it can't get any worse

That sounds awesome but I guess I'm just skeptical that enough people would use a southern bypass. Even if you financed it over 30 years at 2.9% you'd have to have 45k crossings a day at $4 a pop just to break even.
The "new" bridge gets around 120k daily traffic but most of that is traffic coming from i-12 or to the core of BR. The old bridge gets around 20k daily traffic, and the sunshine bridge even less than that.
Couple this with i-49 being built which will take some traffic away from i-10
You'd get this just from commercial traffic. Even if the toll was $15 for 18 wheelers, it would be worth it for them because haulers lose at least ten times that sitting in BR traffic.

This happens in a lot of other states. Companies self finance construction then use tolls for pay back.
I wish we’d do it here. I’d think the tolls would be more than acceptable to lessen the traffic burden. And the project will get done quicker this way. No rain days when your own money is on the line.

Its really quite simple, for the blue portion you don't need near as many people to sign off bc its mostly through swampland.
Do that part first. Take 10 years or whatever you want to do the red portion later since there will be more barriers for that portion.

Interesting concept.
I have been told "road diets" were the way to go

I could agree to that but I expect the feds and the usual bunch of NBR clowns blocking any plans.
are you serious? Those "NBR clowns" are the only people apparently voting for MoveBR. Its the people on this board blocking any plans for progress because they want to try and prove a point to government. Now we will all sit in traffic for the next 30 years while the people that voted against improvement bitch about the lack of it.

Where are you coming from?

Is there are consensus of where this new bridge would be located?
Posted on 12/7/18 at 8:11 am to Salamander_Wilson
Hysterical, the toll cost will be upwards to $7-$15 per vehicle per trip. Good luck getting people to use the bridge on a a daily basis. His GGG Children might see the end of the toll. People have no idea that tolls need a big population - over a million drivers to work or they need it to be the only way in and out like LA 1

This can’t be upvoted enough.

Accept the people in the blue line dont want it to go there, neither does the corps of engineer or the coast guard who have to give it the OK.
