I work with dozens of PE firms. Everything from family shops to BX. It’s status quo.

Most PE wants to hold companies for a target amount of time - usually five years, some have longer timeframes - then they flip them. If they want to keep owning they usually recapitalize and return some earnings to their fund. It’s out of the norm for PE to want to hold companies indefinitely. That is more like the SOP for Family Offices. Barnhard operated that way. They planned to invest and hold companies while they built out an eco-system.

I have a lot of family that works at EPIC, I hope this works out for them. But these Private Equity things seldom do.

Sometimes. Other times I’m selling them assets with 25 year contracts.

This was PE on PE violence. There’s nothing different about this because it’s what’s his face.

Most of the time, and you know it.

You’re trying to put this in a box you don’t understand and don’t see the long term investments they use to hedge. Maybe you’re only exposed to the short cycle stuff. But there’s so much more going on.

lol. I’m a private funds attorney. I regularly form private equity funds and advise their managers. As I said, Bernhardt’s Form ADV is publicly available (as in anyone is free to access it and read about their business). I don’t “understand” what you’re telling me because it’s bullshite. It doesn’t mean anything. Bernhard is private equity. No ifs, ands, or buts, about it. I don’t care if they told you that their strategy is someone different than other managers, they are private equity.

You’re talking about their strategy. That doesn’t mean anything. They’re still private equity. Not “treated as private equity for tax purposes”. I’m still laughing at that one. What does it even mean?

It means I was walking around Park City and typing on my phone.
