Oh, I thought the birth rate problem was something like readily available birth control.
The women having all the kids have 11000 birth control options all paid for by the government
Meanwhile men’s birth control options are akin to a cartel kidnapping: put a bag over your head or cut your balls off

I used to have a 1973 Buick Regal with a bench front seat and auto trans. Buddy who lived down the street had a 69 Mustang fastback with bucket seats and four on the floor. Some nights when he had a date, and I didn't, we'd swap cars for the night.
People used to say there was nothing to do in Farmerville but f*ck or fight. In the 70's it was true. Every restaurant closed by nine and the one convenience store, Hearns, stayed open til 10 PM. After that, coke machines and candy machines at gas stations and the courthouse were the only places to get a Coke or a snack. The courthouse was the only restroom open after 10 PM and you had to walk in front of the sheriffs office to go there. I know guys who were arrested for urinating in public. Even the infamous Folley Beach summer concerts shut down at midnight.
I almost got married twice living there in high school and college.

I did an a/I search for the relationship between car bench seat and birth rates with very little response other than child car restraint seats.
Really highlites the limitation of a/I, having most all input from the young adults that never used a bench seat. That limitation will apply to most society observations prior to 1980

Early 60’s AMC Ramblers split front bench seats reclined 90 degrees back to the rear seat making a passable bed for desired activities.

If public schools provided childcare and education for children under 5, more people would have kids

What a great song.
Great album. Great band really, even if the lead singer is a bit of a wackjob

A more relevant correlation might be the rise of television and home entertainment. There was more stuff to do at night for husbands and wives other than fricking.

My kid is in public school now and I still have to pay for after care. School is out at 2:45, but I'm not.

How removed from reality do you have to be to think it's bucket seats in cars that are causing the nation's declining birth rate, and not actual economic factors like purchasing power, stagnating wages, housing costs, daycare costs, etc.
I got attacked on here once for saying inflation and stagnant pay was the reason. For some reason, a lot of posters on here think the economy hasn't changed since the it's.
A lot of my friends who wanted kids are only having one or two. They would gladly have 3 or 4 if their economic prospects were better.
