My daughter
Was number three in her class, 30 on ACT and just likes Tech. She didn't wa to go to LSU. Was gonna cost me the same at either.

She is in biomedical engineering for now and loves it there

makes sense socially too. fewer women at a tech school.

I don't think I would be where I am had I gone to LSU. Made connections at McNeese that benefited in the long run.

Are you still in the Lake Chuck area? It is much different if you are moving to a major metro area after school like Houston/Dallas. I realize that some schools have programs more devoted to specific career occupations, but the networking connections with a LSU degree should be a high incentive to go there just for that reason.

That isn't publically said for any university. Because the cutoff line is amorphous and changes every year.

It's a judgement call on borderline cases, not mathematics.

So that's why when you gauge admission difficulty, you look at how good the accepted applicants are, and how many applicants they accepted.

Haven't lived in Lake Charles in almost 4 years. I moved to BR after college because of a job I got in large part due to a recommendation from a former professor. I left that position, and I got my current position because of connections I made in college.

My occupation is one of those few where McNeese grads rival LSU grads in the state. One of the top guys in my organization is a McNeese grad. The top guy is from OOS.

Closer to home and jobs were available. Parents couldn't do much so I worked in the rice/crawfish fields while I went to school. Wasn't pretty and I missed out on a lot but I know what work is...

honestly I went to southeastern because I would not have graduated from Lsu. I didn't trust myself in that atmosphere. The party scene at southeastern was pretty much just on Thursday nights then most everyone went home for the weekends.

That was certainly part of, but I didn't think the academic environment was that great either.

I graduated from NLU ( now ULM) in Pharmacy. I always wanted to go to LSU, but only 2 colleges in Louisiana offer a pharmacy degree.

Went to Northwestern. Graduated with a degree in Education. Really enjoyed my time there and got off with minimal debt. Made connections that have helped me out to this day.

Other schools will offer more scholarships, that cover room and board, meals, etc, to draw smart kids away from LSU.

Wasn't LSU one of the full ride schools for National Merit Finalists a year or two ago? Now it gets you a measly distinguished freshman award of $2,000. I think La. Tech gives a full ride. But then again, I'd probably send my kid out of state over La. Tech.

My daughter got into LSU today! A main reason is expense. If you live in Lafayette and got to UL then you could live at home to save money for example. Also, other schools in the state give way more money then LSU does. She could go to La Tech for free but it will still cost me to send her to LSU.

My son got a 30 on his ACT and has over a 3.5. He can go to La Tech, UAH, and many other schools for free, or we could pay for him to go to LSU. Doesn't make sense.

You're lucky with all those robberies you experienced from the TPOS. CM is not a legit engineering program, you'll be making some good money soon enough.

$100K out West.
