The straw man like your original post that "chair companies own the beach"? That straw man?

Wait, what?

A poster on page 1 stated "Hate how the chair company acts like they own the beach, but there’s often no good guys in this situation."

In response, you stated this:

quote:

Chair companies literally have a contract with every property they set up at that stipulates this.

I'm not going to lie, you're an odd poster.

The problems are the MHWL isn’t marked (from anything I’ve ever seen) so it’s kind of a guessing game, plus as enforced it would allow tents in front of the chairs in many areas, so I’ve seen some places that try to compromise and allow a section to the side for tents and set up chairs on the other. That seems to work okay but it seems to vary greatly. We usually rent a few chairs and also arrange a small canopy in the middle and it works well for a small-medium size group.

My favorite thing to do at the beach is go down after breakfast and find a gap in the middle of the unused 5 am set ups and shove stuff aside far enough to fit between them and set up shop. You get looks when they finally get their arse down there but no one’s ever said shite.

This is what I do at resorts. I get down there around 8am when everyone left a towel down to "hold their place" go eat breakfast. I pick the spot I want, move whatever I need (which, fortunately is rare needs to happen), and I don't leave because I'm not a breakfast eater.

Not much you can do when all you used to hold the chair was the hotel pool issued towel and nothing else.

The problem is nobody really knows (there isn't a daily physical demarcation) on the beach showing where exactly the high water mark is and the private beach ends and the public beach starts.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills when I read his posts. He can’t even follow what was actually said and is all over the place.

And routinely posts shite that is 100% factually incorrect on the money board and will then argue with people about it

I hate "The Beach." A lot. It's one of my least favorite places to go/things to do. I hate it far more than work. I like reading other people's bitchings and complainings about the beach because it reminds me to be grateful that I'm not at the beach.

I love the Florida beaches and use to love spending my time there, but the shite in this thread is a reminder why when push comes to shove, we choose to go elsewhere.

Put me on team chair all day, I go to the beach to relax, not spend my day hauling crap down there and setting up shop. Give me a few sets of chairs where I can put my small ice chest under an umbrella and sleep with the sound of the waves.

I don't mind A beach. I've done Playa Mujeres, Punta Cana, Cabo, etc. in recent years. And I love a nice pool somewhere.

I haven't been to a condo in FL/AL since June of 2016.

Yet here you are an accountant from Dallas that hates the gulf coast commenting about the beaches

That stipulates that they own the beach? lol, no.

Here's a bump. You understand their contract stipulates what they can and can not do? If setting up chairs on the beach they have a contract with is "owning" it then sure. They own the contract to set up the chairs there.

Been a few years since I've done the public beach, but we are going this year due to the wife giving in to the negotiations with the terrorists. At least the compromise was for 3 days, including arrival day.

I'm team chair rentals just because team tent will often set up a few feet right in front of the chairs. They will then set up their large tents and spread out with chairs and towels to give themselves space, so they aren't right next to another tent crew that does the same. They also will not provide enough space for paths to the beach for those of us in chairs, or towards the back.

IMO, it should be first come first serve; but have been on plenty beach trips where they drag their crap down after 9am, plop down in front of the chairs, when there is ample space 10-20' in either direction. They just don't want to drag their cheap arse wagon the extra distance.

I have enjoyed various beaches.

In the context of this message board / louisiana in general "The Beach" means a condo or rent house somewhere between biloxi and 30A, and that whole place is uninhabitable in the summer as far as I am concerned.

Even if it was the same as it is now for everyone else and I got paid $3,000 to go for the weekend, I still wouldn't go. It's the bilge of the eastern united states.

I would rather be at work than on a "vacation" to the beach. i far prefer the mountains. we go to the beach more than the mountains because my wife allegedly loves the beach because she is able to "relax", yet somehow she is stressed out and mad at me and the kids the whole time up until the day we leave and then she gets sad because we are leaving.

i'll add that i'm neither Team Chair or Team Tent. everyone at the beach is assholes, regardless of which method of shade they use. i'm including myself here. when i'm under a tent i get annoyed with the chair people. when i've got a chair, i'm annoyed with the tent people.

i'd rather just go sit by the pool and read a book.

Now multiply that by 200,000 and add an additional 200,000 of horribly trashy fat people who are having the time of their lives at the expense of everyone else within a 30 yard radius and you have a good composite picture of why the entire place is an uninhabitable shithole.

I’m firmly on Team Tent. But I avoid beaches where you have to compete with chair services

So you try to avoid nice places and stick to low-rent condos and public beaches?

I live in the mountains. The only place id leave for is the beach. The weather is better in the mountains. There is not another vacation i look forward to more each year than orange beach for a week with my family.

Anyone who says they would rather be at work than the beach for a week needs to get their brain examined
