If he's talkin 'bout where I grew up... it's the by-yuh. Sometimes i'll catch myself saying it fast enough that it comes out more like "bye"

I have used and heard many of the iterations of it, and I am from suburban New Orleans, but have friends, or acquaintances from all across South Louisiana.

What grinds my gears about the use of the word "bayou" is all the fool sportscasters who all refer to Tiger Stadium as the bayou, or down the bayou, when it's barely 2000 feet to the River from the west stands.
