The "what time do you wake up threads" always have me .

It devolves to a level where you have guys in there bragging about getting up at like 3 in the morning and shite.

Likewise, all of my European/Oversea colleagues were pretty much nonexistent since the beginning of December. Still basically nonexistent, so this week is quiet on my end..

This. The Europeans will vanish again in July/August at the end of the summer as well.

I completely forgot what the Italians called it but you're absolutely correct, July/August they were once again nonexistent, which I'm not abundantly mad about, it's just odd. Kind of jealous tbh

There was a time when I was trying to get ahead in my career and would rarely use all my allotted time off. I was just too busy and it actually paid off for me.

But then when the kids came along I had a manager ask me, “When you die, do you think they will put that you never took vacation while working for the company on your headstone?” I make sure to take vacation when I can now. It’s definitely a balancing act though.

used to work for a place where that was the work culture..it was fricking cartoonish especially on the holidays...people would be camped out in their office doing nothing as late as possible on Dec 24th so the CEO would notice them

Same, early in my career I worked 24/7 and was miserable.

Now, being newly married, having a child on the way, in the process of moving into a new house etc etc, im choosing my vacation/weekends/family time over this job any day of the week.

I've come to the conclusion that some of my colleagues/people on here hate their families and wives as much as they want to be known for being gone from them.

Same though, my wife is actually pretty great lmao

It's because they have nothing better to do. They live to work.

I could make more money but I like having every Friday off, work from home options, and generous PTO.

This might be the most feminine argument I’ve ever heard.

F that. My company doesn’t pay out sick time when we quit or retire. No use in stocking up on sick time. Might as well use it while I can.

Never understood of stockpiling shite tons of vacation when the company doesn't pay it out.

I get a nice amount of PTO and will use all of it to it's fullest extent each year.

Yup. Been working as an operator at an ethanol plant over the last 2 years and you got some of these older guys who never take a day off and work endless OT and make fun of guys like me who don't.

For no other reason than to drink coffee and simply be awake at 3AM

“But I work out…”

MF’r you’re not a SEAL or a vampire…work out when the suns up like a normal person.

We have corporate desks to sit at for no reason later in the day, hence 0415 it is.

I don't care what it makes me, I take off when I want to. I have a lot of PTO and I use it. If I want a day off on a Tuesday just because, I take it.
