People are sick of taxes. Any new tax or renewal is going to be hard to get passed. It is a NO from me moving forward
They just wait for a Saturday in the fall when everyone is distracted and get any tax they want passed. Elected officials have openly admitted this for years.

Again, no one is ok with this. The point of disagreement is whether it’s actually happening to the extent you claim it is.
So can't wait to see you squirm and argue it's not happening to the extent I'm claiming

What in the frick are you talking about?

I'm talking about your non-stop in this whole thread, asinine contentions that violent gun black crime spreading into white areas of town isn't anything to sound the alarm about, and you damn well know it.
So the best you can do is avoid and evade the question altogether.
Aren't you a lawyer? If so, how on earth did you pass the Bar? One of those Covid waive-in clowns?

I think you might actually be a bit retarded, but I’ll try one more time: go back and read your, oddly, two nearly identical posts. Tell me if they read as you intended, or whether you possibly made a mistake in what you were trying to quote. Because as written, they make no fricking sense.
Yes, I’m an attorney. No, I passed the Bar on my first attempt (long before COVID). But you still might be retarded. We’ll see

Bob and weave all you want. It's obvious you don't want to answer.
You're coming off as an idiot right now and don't even realize it.

Jesus frick, you really are retarded. You realize that just because you say my name, I don’t get a ping or some shite, right? The post in which you replied to one of my posts, which did notify me, looked like bumbling fricking lunacy. I never saw your previous post name dropping me until just now. Though I do hope you managed to squeeze one out over the idea that I was “evading” a question I never fricking saw
Yes, that (presumed) murder is concerning, as the Perkins Overpass area is generally safe. Now, it happened after 2am, so that brings it down a bit, but still, what looks like a “drug deal gone wrong” isn’t something anyone wants to see. With that said, yes, I’m still perfectly comfortable saying that you’re acting like a neurotic, histrionic chicken little. Now, if this kind of thing starts happening with any kind of frequency whatsoever, I’ll likely change my tune. Until then, you keep desperately hoping that bad things truly start happening in good areas, just to act as an post hoc justification for your silliness

Also, I just noticed that you went back and edited your first post in this chain after my reply pointing out that you sounded like a lunatic, after you, presumably, realized you made a quoting mistake and sounded like a fricking lunatic

We pass every single renewal every election It’s why EBRPSS takes 1/3rd of my property tax bill. I genuinely hope people are sick of taxes and get out and vote against the Library & COA tax.
There’s a big election coming up this month right?
Oh wait, the tax renewals election are next month that NO ONE will vote in and they’ll all pass.

This is why you vote in every single ballot put forth. Vote early if it falls on a game day.

Your childish name calling of other posters is out of control.
If you can't make your point without a steady stream of insults, you have lost.
FYI, I RA'd several of your posts in this thread.

You don’t have to tell me.
Just found it funny when the Council on Aging lady called me the other day asking for support on their vote and she mentioned it was in June.
I was thinking, isn’t this next election in May??
Sure enough
BREC
Libraries?
And COA
Tax renewals are all a few weeks after this major senate, St. George, whateverthehellelse is on this ballot major election in May.
Sneaky bastards.

Apparently you skipped class the day in law school they taught how lame and pathetic a desperation move like resorting to Ad Hominen attacks is.
I'm sure the workers at Trader Joes and area restaurant workers that work till around 2 closing up and needing gas, are comforted by the your contention that the murder doesn't count cause it was at 2 a.m.

There’s no explaining stuff like this to idiots who decide to sound off on one topic from their lazy boy like they’re the world’s foremost expert. They have all the answers. If only the elected officials would listen to THEM.

After your string of posts, you can’t be fricking serious

Baton Rouge’s “murder problem” is staggeringly geographically contained.
Do you not believe the tPOS murder problem of innocent people is not spreading south of Florida Boulevard?
What are your thoughts on thugs killing thugs in NBR? Do you care much about what happens in NBR?

I certainly think it happens on occasion, but I don’t see much evidence that it’s “spreading”, such that it’s getting markedly worse. As I said before, if it stops being an extreme outlier when it happens, then we can have a different conversation. I simply don’t think the sky is currently falling.

It’s fricking horrific and needs to be addressed immediately. I care quite a bit, but it’s more distant and abstract, as it doesn’t really affect my day to day life as a citizen of Baton Rouge anymore than someone living in Lafayette is affected by a murder in Youngsville.

quote:I mostly agree with what you say except - why do the libraries and parks have surpluses? Why is public safety under funded?
Most know that taxpayers in EBR are taxed enough and the tax receipts need to be reallocated so that vital things get done first.
For example when public safety is underfunded, but we are running surpluses in libraries and parks then something is wrong. When COA asked for tax help they received millions more per year than they requested; yet this was never adjusted.
Before thrive, when have increases for public safety been put to vote? Don’t you find a lot of people in Baton Rouge ignore there is a safety issue? Whether it’s the black residents who don’t like cops or the white residents who think nothing is ever going to happen to them because only crime happens in New Orleans - many people ignore the real issue.
Or does the library and parks really just handle their money better? Some of the overtime policeman make is a little ridiculous- and a lot of it counts for their retirement.
An overhaul of all City-Parish needs to be done, should’ve been done a long time ago before St. George was incorporated and the few tax paying citizens of the city of BR have to pay for a total shitshow.

Keep up the bob and weave fool
You must be a criminal defense lawyer or a Public defender the way you excuse and fail to concede that violent black gun crime is expanding into traditionally white areas of town.
I've cited example after example, and you still play the ignoramus.
Trader Joe's parking lot murder is no big deal to you!

Leftists cheer this on, spreading misery with the philosophy “if we live in it they should too”.
