I-10 West is now stopped too, I guess so they can try and put the fire out.

I can't imagine there being a stretch of road that has more car fires than that area of I-10 near/on the bridge.

Good god, there's even more wrecks when I zoom in on the map. Not updating OP, it's too sad. I count 9 now

Dude several of those are likely the same wreck. You can't count wreck icons on google maps and think they're all different wrecks. Good grief.

Looks like Spencer Callahan's new office/helipad will have a prime ad spot for the DOTD cameras.

I just don't understand how that bridge leads to so much shite going down. It's a straight stretch

The Perkins/Essen intersection at 5pm is so horrible. What the hell is the deal with people going through a light when traffic is stopped so they'll be sitting in the middle of the intersection? Every day this happens at this intersection, and people can't cross when they green light purely because there are others sitting in the intersection blocking them.

Haha probably true. The icons when I zoomed in may have been people reporting the same thing, idk how that process goes. But given that the icons were spaced out from Port Allen to Siegen, I think it's fair to say that there were at least 4-5 different ones this morning

The interstate only having one lane only exists in Baton Rouge.

If that was the only problem, it wouldn't be that bad. The problem is you have a major interstate heavily traveled. Add 2 on ramps converging (each having 2 lanes of traffic of their own, la 1 from plaq, and from port allen) in one spot at the beginning of the bridge (heading eastbound). So now you have 3 areas of traffic all slammed together at the base of a bridge on a major interstate.
Now, to make it even more fricktastic, let's jam all of that traffic into 1 lane as you are coming out of a decline.
And if that isn't fun enough for you, we'll throw in another twist and merge 3 lanes of traffic from I-110 and 1 lane of traffic that was previously 3 lanes from the bridge, all into 3 lanes of traffic. And just to frick with you, we'll throw in an exit ramp to Washington street on the right hand side just to tempt the idiots to cross all lanes of traffic to get to.

and there's more... now you have 3-4 lanes of interstate traffic going directly through the middle of baton rouge and no service roads, only on ramps and off ramps. You have majority of the people on the road live outside of BR city limits to escape the shitty schools, crime, and traffic (irony). You again, have no service roads to I-12, and heavy 18 wheeler traffic attempting to bypass New Orleans heading Eastbound. On I10, you have multiple people living in prairieville and gonzales again, with no service roads except to the mall, and each have roughly 1500 feet of exit lane length, compacting traffic even more, and the closest exit to P'Ville is at highland road, where the majority of P'ville residents live at least 10-15 miles further than that exit.

WHAT COULD GO WRONG?

There are 19 ( yes, nineteen) stop lights on Florida Blvd. between O'Neal and Acadian.

Just last night, I was heading east down Perkins. The light at Perkins/Kennilworth turns green and at the exact same time, the light immediately past it turns yellow. How does this make any sense? We moved 50ft and had to stop again.

The goal of LaDOTD is to give BR driver's panic attacks, anxiety, anger issues, and health problems.

That's really the only explanation that makes sense in this town.

I think about 75% of the issues of BR bridge woudn't exist if 18 wheelers didn't exist. I don't understand how a freight driver can make it over the bridge in Lake Charles that is at a near steep 45 degree angle, but have trouble going up a soft gradual 15-20 degree incline in BR. They should do mass executions for the heads of freight companies if their trucks break down at the bridge.

Same thing at College/Perkins and Acadian/Perkins. These people need to be shot. Or at the very least, a cop needs to be stationed at the corner handing out tickets to the MFs that do this.
