Make a law requiring all 18-wheelers to take the North Bridge (East and West bound).

This would fix a portion of the "I-10 single lane merging at Washington St" and congestion from them slowing down since they cannot maintain speed to the peak of the I-10 Bridge or through the sharp 90 degree turn in both directions.

Have police ticket every one that breaks the law and a portion of that goes towards the funds to build a twin bridge/loop.

No structural costs incurred. Add signs in advance along I-10 and I-12 warning truckers they must bypass the I-10 bridge.

So we should make a law that pushes the trucks driving from one state to another, or "interstate traffic" if you will, to some road other than Interstate 10?

Yes. You have weigh stations and tunnel bypasses across the country they are forced to obey. They are the problem for the traffic. Address it.

And I understand they supply the goods for the entire country internally, but the I-10 bridge in Baton Rouge cannot support the volume of 18 wheelers and commuter traffic.

True. But for a city Baton Rouge's size, it shouldn't be this bad. And despite study after study after study, nothing has been done to really help fix the problem.

Why fix problems when you can just throw another stop light down?

Seems like a good idea but we have got to make Airline Highway and LA1 move efficiently. The problem with the Huey Long bridge is the inefficient routes that feed to it.

If the I10 bridge was built to support pedestrian traffic, we have deeper issues.

How naive people are!

False. It is literally impossible to get from one side of the city to the other in any kind of reasonable time without using the interstate. There are 19 ( yes, nineteen) stop lights on Florida Blvd. between O'Neal and Acadian. Even if there were no cars on the road, traversing the city East to West takes 20+ minutes.

They need to be made into actual highways with overpasses and no stop lights or intersections and speed limits of 55-60.

"Literally". Yeah, you're straight up wrong.

I think this was part of the BUMP plan. It's the cheapest and best solution to traffic problems in Baton Rouge by a long shot.

Couldn't they just put an interstate loop directly through North Baton Rouge and kill two birds with one stone?

So you're asserting that there are not nineteen stop lights between O'Neal and Acadian on Florida Blvd.?

People like you are the problem.

No, I'm asserting it's not "literally impossible" to get across town without using the interstate. I do it all the time.

I dont think this would be legal, cant exactly regulate who can drive on federal highways and who cant.

I think LA1 moves efficient enough. The congestion occurs because the clog of the I-10 bridge. I have a lot of time to think because I make the LA1 to BR commute every day.

Every other major city has a more expansive interstate system that allows you to take an alternate route.

Even the surface streets slow to a crawl because the interstate is so bad here.
