If the plantation home and current property are designated as a historical site then I suspect they would have needed to have an archaeological survey done before any dirt work started.

I'm Baton Rouge, this likely just means getting the right check to the right person

What is she going to say about the black families, possibly even a few black politicians, that move into that neighborhood?

Just when you think fat Gravy be a bigger piece of shite, guys puts forward a full throated defense of a fricking murderer. The guy killed someone and fat frick Gravy defends him.

He's black. But there's an old white judge out there who was an a-hole at a bar to a black woman and he deserves to lose his job. Get wit it.

She keeps saying they are building this for rich white people.

Is this a segregated community where other races are not allowed?

No, just the white savior spewing micro-aggressions and stereotypes by assuming POC can't have money or buy nice things. She should check her privilege.

should I have said bizarro fascists? Pseudofascists?

Regardless, they are authoritarian, intolerant, and extreme

He's saying they're not classical liberals. Classic liberalism is about seeking truth through an open exchange of honest ideas. By that measure, these low brow progressives are nowhere near liberals. They have a "truth" embedded in their brains and believe anyone who disagrees that "truth" should be destroyed.

I'm pretty neutral about it. Especially since it was never a site I would/could visit.

You only get 1 shot at this world, and these people choose to waste every minute of their lives bitching and complaining about every little "injustice".

I see too many of these Black activists trying to exploit frustration in the community. They are playing into those people's fear, anger, and prejudice for their own political gain. They are aggravating race relations so that they can somehow gain a little prominence and power. These people get popular by tearing things down instead of trying to mend them. That's why I have zero respect for them.

Some of these angry shite stirrers are actually educated people. If they wanted to really change things, get a real job and start mentoring young people who are born into poverty and stuck in a shitty public school. Make sure they know that things can get better if you work hard.

Right, and that's what American Chattel slavery was for the most part.

Far different from Caribbean slavery and South American slavery.

They had a constant supply of mostly male slaves and would literally work them to death.

American Chattel slavery, overall, was a damn tea party comparatively.

Much lower mortality rates.

I agree 100%. I hope they don't build it solely for this reason.

So no one really knows where there are Indian burial grounds, however; if one is discovered while land is being developed then it can not continue to be developed?

Correct. Tho Im sure there are some circumstances at what type of development could be placed and where.
The little building across the street from Sammys on Highland has a dirt berm about 5' tall and about 7' wide that runs parallel to it and stops at Highland. When you pull into the parking lot you are looking directly at it. This pile of dirt was once part of an Arms Depot for the Civil War. I know a contractor whos wife owned that building and when we remolded it, he had to pay all kinds of fees and have an inspector stop by daily to make sure the earthen berm was not touched in any way.
This stuff kinda pops up from time to time when proper surveying hasn't been done.
