And I'm sure he may really believe that.
But from where I'm sitting, it looks like just another excuse for people to act like animals.
In all likelihood, if that flood had never happened, all the homicide victims since then would still be just as dead today.

At the risk of sounding hard hearted, or God forbid "Racist!", I have quit caring at all when these ghetto rats exterminate each other. To my thinking the only ones to note are when a tax paying contributor to society is involved. That truck driver killed by the kid off of Florida Blvd for example. I wish they would publish violent crime statistics in two categories. One for prior felon thug on prior felon thug and the other when a citizen is involved.

It is simple drugs, kids having babies, and the govt entitlements.
I bet 80% of the homcides you see in the news are drug related. The other 20% that make the news start out as domestic disputes.
BR is a drug cesspool. Eventually, the problem will get closer and closer to the middle class areas and traditional SJW areas like Southdowns. When this happens people will wake up and it will be too late for this city.

I don't cry when gang bangers and drug dealers kill each other. The problem is these often happen in neighborhoods where families who want nothing to do with this live. Sometimes they get hurt or killed. Not to mention a high violent crime rate turns incoming businesses away. The problem doesn't help a city that desperately needs more businesses to come in bring jobs and put money back into the city.

This guy is blaming everything from the flood to cops & teachers for the increase in murders.
The correct answer is drugs.

"Let's look at what's causing the crime problem in Baton Rouge," Guidry said. "No doubt part of it has to deal with the education system, health care, the government and even law enforcement. You can dismiss it all you want, but crime is on the rise at least in homicides in East Baton Rouge, and we need to figure out what's attributing to that."

That LSU criminology Professor has been peddling that vapid crackpottery on tv for months. It's a level of moral confusion and intellectual vanity that only a Progressive Fundamentalist could be satisfied with .
The simple truth is too much to handle so let's try to out- do each other with theories that conform to existing Progressive theology that allows us to deflect responsibility away from those who are actually engaged in murder (and how their non- existent families and predatory psychology results in dead bodies everywhere ) and onto unrelated people peacefully minding their own business .

I truly truly enjoy how with the huge spike in shootings this year, that the blame constantly is pointed to things outside of north Baton Rouge.
It makes me laugh every time I hear it

Here's what I see.
The number of cops is down.
Their popular leader is gone and along with low pay it has hurt morale.
Current mayor has shown she does not have the cops' back further hurting morale.
Thugs see this and are seeing weakness.
EBR is on the brink and we need the DA, Broome and Gautreaux to respond.
Will they?
