The arcade portion of the sandwich shop was Rusty's Arcade- awesome place to ride our bikes to during the summer, and he always seem to have the newest games. They also had a punch card that gave you free plays every month.

I forgot if it was on the corner of Sharp and Florida, or Madeleine Court and Florida, but Midas Muffler had a statue of King Midas that was aboot 30 feet tall.

That Mary Lee Doughnuts has been there a long time. The post office used to be in the Broadmoor shopping center, next to TickTock Shoe repair.

Mary Lee has been there for ever. Right next to the old Auto King......another FLA Blvd legend.

Midas was on the corner of Madeleine Ct & Fla.

What was the name of the upscale men's clothing store in the Broadmoor shopping center?

I can only think of I.H. Rubenstein's. It was more of a department store though.

That was a Kroger next to K-Mart. It was located on the southwest corner of Sherwood and Florida and then moved next to K-Mart when that building was completed

The grocery store that opened at 12112 Florida Blvd, sometime around 82/83, was an A&P. As I mentioned, I worked there. I remember when they built that addition on to the K-Mart. I have no idea if it became a Kroger at some point, but the first thing that was in that extension was an A&P.

Thanks!

Yeah, I rode my bike up there all the time to play Joust, Defender, Sinistar. I remember when he got Dragon's Lair. Before I could drive and go to Space Port or Coney Island, this arcade was where I hung out. Got in trouble once when my mom saw my bike outside the building. I wasn't supposed to be there LOL

Maybe the bar was Papa Joe's?

That name doesn't sound familiar, but I really have no idea what the place was called. I know I was under 18 and they let us in. Was Papa Joe's in that strip center there at Tamari and Florida?

Sound City

My mom had a store kind of next to Sound City so I was always over there looking at guitars. Got my first "real" guitar from Sound City. I cannot remember the guy's name who sold it to me. But IIRC he was the guitar player in Potliquor.

ETA: Pretty sure it was Mike McQuaig

Kroger was the first occupant of the property, 1972 or so. Kroger went on strike in Baton Rouge and the three stores were closed. A&P then moved into the Florida Blvd. location and the College Drive location (Old Village Square). I can't remember if A&P also moved into the location at Jefferson Hwy and Airline, by Parkview Baptist, but I think they took that location too.

The Keno Club.

Now little Saigon, on Florida Blvd next to Sonny's BBQ. (Which in it's own right warrants mentioning.)

NEW GENERATION

I worked for a company that was owed money by NG, part of the payment ended up being in those wooden New Gen gift certificate coins. That Christmas our boss tossed tons of them to us like they were doubloons.

Nice little TV for Christmas.
