Baton Rouge looking to make red light ticket fines enforceable - contract extended too

frick these guys. SWB can’t be thrown out of office soon enough.
“They are considering it” my arse. This administration has shown that if it will give them a nickel more to spend they will do it. So consider this done.

The East Baton Rouge Metro Council gave the green-light to a four-year extension for the red-light camera program Tuesday night.
The new contract gives the city-parish a self-collection option. "Some of the councilmembers feel it's not fair some people pay and some people don't," Gissel said. "It's really the same thing we face with any fine or fee." Before red-light tickets can start being enforced, the current ordinance would have to be tweaked. How, or even if to do that, is a conversation currently happening inside the mayor's office. "There's a question of whether we can change the ordinance where we would actually go through a full court process where you would issue a judgment that would be enforceable in terms of collection," Gissel said. The Parish Attorney's Office is already looking into that process. But Gissel says even without enforcing drivers to pay red-light ticket fines, the program serves as a deterrent.

If they can actually figure out how to make money from it, they definitely will go for it. Otherwise, it’s just a scare tactic.
I have 3 that i have never paid and several are from 1 is from like 4 years ago.
Gonna suck if they actually figure out how to legit try and collect

Lol no they won’t. They just are trying to scare people into thinking they have to pay for that BS
Baton Rouge red light tickets go straight into the trash

The overwhelming majority of these cameras are in areas of the city where they are more likely to collect the fines. Some have figured out that you truly don’t have to pay.
So if the administration wants to make it “enforceable” across the board, I expect a good number of cameras to be moved into North Baton Rouge as a result.

I somehow doubt SWB will be eager to do this

She won’t. But if you’re really wanting to be fair ... because the majority of Democrats want redistribution ... this is redistribution.

If they try this, wait and see how fast it gets tossed on Constitutional grounds.
This is a scare tactic.

SWB, Gravy and the SJW's all think that this comment is racist bro.

This isnt constitutional. They cant enforce shite if they cant prove its you

Every day that goes by with her as mayor is another day the people that didn’t vote should be publicly flogged. And given her huge block of guaranteed voters, it could happen again if apathy and laziness sets in on Election Day. She is a bonafide racist idiot.

They’ll probably put some bite into it like booting cars with unpaid tickets. However they CANNOT prove you receive them in the mail unless you’re dumb enough to look at the link of the offense online.

First, frick anyone who supports this money-grabbing, totalitarian shite.
Second, the cameras aren’t even correctly calibrated. Tons of people who don’t “break the law” are still being issued tickets.

If they can’t enforce as it is they can’t boot, right?

Correct. As it stands now, there are no negative consequences to throwing theM directly in the trash.

I don't see how the can fathom doing this when it's already been ruled unconstitutional by the courts.

Another reason to avoid Baton Rouge. The way they are killing people in BR the population will be cut in half by next year. The city has to recoup those taxes somehow.

I don't drive through Baker as a direct result of the Traffic Cams.
I have to imagine I am not the only one. The loss of traffic hurts sales revenue.
