We should have all private roads, frick the government.

Private roads won't be much fun with cameras and tolls on every street costing you an extra $3.50/trip to run an errand. And you would pay forever because after the original cost is paid off you would still have to pay for private maintenance.

Roads and bridges and quality public transportation is one thing government should do, its just that its often not done very well. One reason is highlighted in this thread, when government tries to make improvements people complain, so nothing gets done.

The best road project BR has done in my lifetime was the dedicated turn lane at Nicholson and Lee/Brightside. When I was in college, Nicholson would back up for miles with people trying to turn left.

Interesting they call the center section in the second illustration by it's American name as god intended, a "median."

Isn't that something you coonasses regularly argue about? I know you 'neutral ground' people will be highly offended

Is this open to wagers on if it will happen?

I can't see it happening in my lifetime unless they take a D-12 Cat and wipe out the houses on one whole side of the street.

Southdowns is loaded up with quaintness so that would be a hard sell.

Lee, Hyacinth, Stuart,etc..is full of NIMBys with political clout.

They are proud owners of the most expensive 70 year old asbestos shingle houses in all of BR. Most still with the original antique insulation, electrical, plumbing to match.

You say their house isn't worth 500K, F You man, that house is by Aloysius, and within walking range of the LSU Lakes. Hop skip jump to Overpass bars, Parrains, and Trader Joe.

Damn you for needing the common good for all of Rougeans. Let them live in their 1950s delusion peacefully.

Might as well just make it no left turn except at lights.

I'll believe it when I see it.
They have been taking about improving Lee Dr. for decades. There are multiple plans, state and city, that have not been used.

Good luck.

Weird 2.5 year old bump, but it's clearly not progressed any in that timeframe other than them erecting a sign before the election.

Good luck with that.

Outside of eminent domain to grab a ton of land, either people’s yards or whole houses, I don’t see this happening.

Likely a dozen or so houses would be in the way. And a bunch that technically wouldn't need to be taken down, but the new lanes would be just feet from their exterior walls. What a nightmare.

I guess if I was given the higher end of fair market value for my home and it wasn't some long-time family home I wouldn't be too upset.

You'll be able to see what people are eating for breakfast or the brand of their polo while walking by.

They already claim this is a great success and want pats on the back. I’ve seen no improvement. Bunch of BS.

A bump from 2022, surely this project is finished or well on its way here in almost 2025.
