Yeah.. they've been talking about widening Lee Drive for years

I noticed years ago all of the houses for sale on Lee Drive. Assumed it was because of something like this in the works, but it's crazy that nothing has happened yet.

So idk, maybe they will need to acquire homes too…

Yes, they will have to acquire several homes along Lee drive especially in the section by the light at Hyacinth.

Outside of eminent domain to grab a ton of land, either people’s yards or whole houses, I don’t see this happening.

You’d have to take down houses, and considering each house is probably 300k plus fair market value, seems unlikely.

From Poplar St. to Perkins Rd., Lee goes from 60' to 80'. Across Perkins to the RR tracks, College goes from 100' to 85', then from the tracks to Concord, it's back down to 70'.

The current state of Lee drive is why I'd never live in Southdowns.

Depending on where you live in Southdowns, you don't have to use it. I almost never use Lee and it's fine.

That second plan with the median and no turning lane is idiotic - does nothing to solve the problem of when someone needs to make a left turn and backs everything up.

Of course it does. It prevents them from making left turns entirely.

Some of those houses between Hyacinth and Perkins don't have the driveway to park a LWB pickup without sticking into the street. 1 car parking crossways on the lot.

frick a bike line make it 4 lanes of traffic. It is literally one of the most traveled thoroughfare from I10 to LSU and its a freaking 2 lane highway. Not to mention theres not even a cross walk at Lee and Highland.

I'm guessing there would be cutouts in the medians for turning like the neutral ground in NO.

What cracks me up is that they want to make Lee Dr faster so you can go sit in gridlock on College because SWB and her ilk are too fricking retarded to figure out how to synchronize the lights.

If anyone thinks SWB or her black successor is gonna pour money into Lee Drive, they’re nuts. How many different road projects have been discussed l? And for how long?

But the giant signs SWB put up at all the major intersections just weeks before her election all say "Coming Soon!"

She even put her name on them in big font!

Do this and it will destroy another great neighborhood of Baton Rouge. It will literally phucking destroy this neighborhood.
Everyone who lives there should fight this with torch fire.

Best solution is to close Lee Dr. and have it only open to those people that live on that street. Have a gate card system, I am serious.

Lee Drive desperately needed improvements 30 years ago, but these plans are bullshite wastes of money that will do nothing to fix any of the problems currently facing Lee Drive.

Why would this destroy the neighborhood?

Just make Lee and Stanford one direction drives. Simplest fix.

Great neighborhood. But they need to do something about improving traffic and aesthetics on Lee Drive.

I've been wondering why no road has been built along Duplantier Bayou connecting Stanford to Kenilworth.
This would help tremendously and could be a quite pretty greenway with bike lanes and such.
And I know it's wetlands but we build bridges over frickin swamps so it could be done and would be an improvement.

Would improve the neighborhood big time, it would just frick up the houses actually on Lee.

All the plans and construction in the world will not help traffic when a train is on the tracks.
