2011 was a beast here in Shelby County. The heat index reached 100 degrees ~65 days that summer. Started Memorial Day and didnt quit til after Labor Day. And it's not like an index of 95 or above outside isn't damn near unbearable.

Highest Temperatures in Memphis in 2011
Rank Temperature Date
1 106 °F Aug 3
2 101 °F Aug 2
3 100 °F Aug 1

Damn, that's nuts.

We hit it here in Atlanta(right at 100) on July 29th.

But August was almost 2 degrees cooler than average and September has been a little warmer than average. We've been in the mid 80's(finally done with them today) for the bulk of the month and we hit 90 for the last time on the 19th.

You guys have been lucky.

And TT9 weeps as he reads this thread.

What I'm thrilled about is not once were we in a "cone" of a hurricane forecast in a season where we are all supposed to be hit with like seven cat 6 storms due to climate change.

Hurricane season still has 2 months to go before it ends.

Are you trying to jinx all of us?

I remember a bunch of people here wanted to pretend like 2023 wasn’t abnormally hot. Idiots.

Sort of. I still think it's weird how a lot of people refuse to acknowledge that that extended heat wave had the very curious (for south Louisiana) feature of having very low humidity (like, in the 30s). There were many days it was 105 and dry where it was obvious it was preferable to 92 with 80% humidity.

Rob Pirello spent all of 2023 and 2024 telling us that 100+ days were going to be the new norm. Alarmist…
