estimated 2019 final rate: 29.8 murders/100K

55 murders in NOLA
55/390,000 = 14.1 murders/100K people
estimated 2019 final rate: 28.4 murders/100K

These people really need to learn how to properly aim and shoot a firearm. Those numbers could be much better.

Last year New Orleans had 146 murders, which was a 47 year low. Half way through the year and on pace to come in significantly below 2018 numbers.

Yeah, but how much of that drop is because everyone is already dead?

I remember when I was a kid there were like 400 murders in NOLA, on track to get less than half of that, kinda crazy

Crack epidemic has a lot to do with those high murder rates from the 80’s and 90’s.

Summer time often shows a decrease in murders for NOLA.

Kangz

As in, "We wuz kangz!"

A common phrase used by proud black people in urban America to declare how prior to the slavery trade their ancestors were mighty monarchs on the continent of Africa. Translated into proper English, this phrase is, "We were kings."
