Pat Brister tried these scare tactics in St Tammany with we voted down her temporary tax renewal 3 times. She gone

I think she's pretty popular among black people. She's not popular with most middle class whites. We'd have to have record turnout among Republicans to get her out. EBRP definitely leans Dem now.

Must have a worthwhile challenger.

JBE won EBR pretty solidly, but I think a good challenger to Broome could sway that middle bloc that voted for JBE over Rispone.

The city of Baton Rouge cut it's budget by 3% FACT. Which is $30 million.

I'd love to know how you consider a 2019 budget of $926,395,160 going to a 2020 budget of $1,004,693,210 a budget cut.

First BRPD AND BRFD make calls in Stg new and old boundaries FACT. I know they told you they don't but that's a complete false statement.

I'll tell you this FACT. I used to work at the old Semolinas on Coursey Blvd, about 150 yards from Sherwood Forest BLvd. We let all uniformed police eat for free. BRPD had a station about a quarter mile down Coursey so they were always eating in the restaurant. One night, a drunk guy threatened me and wouldn't leave so we called the BRPD. They refused to come and instructed us to call EBRSO, which we did.

BRPD didn't get to eat free no 'mo.

$58 million was lost from city parish from STG

Around $23 million was being spent on various things STG is now on the hook for.

BR lost around $25ish million to STG.

City Parish Government has around a $1 billion budget. STG in other words took 2%......no one's missing you sorry you're not that important. Those numbers are the real numbers. No one has been STEALING your money. No one is Dying without STG.
And wait till the annexations are completed. St George will be a one road town. Enjoy Burbank.

1. 23+25=/=58
2. See 1.
3. See 2.
4. We'll see about that $23M. Given the clear funneling of funds into the city from the StG area, an actuary may consider a reduction of the UAL distribution to St. George. All of these arguments Broome is playing through the media is creating a paper trail of contradiction.

What’s the most lucrative part of St. George, and what do we need to do to get them to form their own city?

Yes, no need to hate on BR, or EBR Parish. We are all tied together in the same parish.

Hate on the leaders who are blocking a fair election and who messed up parish finances, but not the whole city and parish. We need each other.

Fact BRPD has no jurisdiction outside Baton Rouge City Limits, but receive 22-25 million dollars, SWB’s number, from people they do not serve. It’s basically theft.

Blah, blah, blah... that was always the whole point. When you artificially carve up a metropolitan area so that the wealthier parts get to keep their tax money hyper-localized, you take it out of the overall tax base- where it is sorely needed, largely by children.

Everyone always knew this, and admitted it, and St. George is still a terrible idea in every analysis except the most rapacious, jaded, short-term ones.

Ha ha ha ha

Now, the city government gets to understand and see what it’s like to have an area get tired of getting crapped on.

Should of thought about this much harder when they kept screwing white folks over

First BR was carved out of EBR Parish. It grew. Then Zachary was carved out, then Baker and then Central. Now SG wants what BR had, Zachary has, Baker has and Central has now. Nothing more.

The problem as I see it is that BR unlike all the other cities uses tax dollars from the unincorporated portions of EBR to pay for city services. Why should unincorporated citizens have to pay such a large portion of city services? They should not.

They shouldn’t.

They should pay directly for only the services they use.

Funds from unincorporated areas should not be available for use in areas that don’t directly serve them.
