That's a crock is shite .. Not what you're saying .. But that retirement structure .. That guy has 12 to 15 good earning years left in him and our tax dollars will shove about $810,000 after taxes in his bank account for doing nothing for the next 15 years .. What a hollow investment and waste of money .. Big whoop .. He worked somewhere for 25 years .. Let's set him up for life ..

So what's the ceiling on how much someone can earn? Most people will admit police/fire don't make much with base salary, so do you limit how much they can make, and then reduce benefits as well?
I see a lot of complaining, no solutions have been brought up by the brain trust of the ot.

Yep. Some of the retired brass get a retirement check upwards of $100K and then get other state jobs making just as much. A friend of mine retired from LSP before he was 50; he gets $98K/year in retirement.

Just googled the officers name. WAFB has brought it up and reported it each year and the Police Dept stand by the fact that he works over 4,500 hours

@ fraud Dude is at work ALL the time. From working DWI, to LSU football games, to parades, to runs, to court, etc. Its a lot.
Is he using some accrued time that he has earned over his 30 year career throughout the year to take off? I'm sure he is. We all do. That's what leave time is for. We get more than just sick leave that allows us to take off. We also earn vacation that caps at around 1,000 hours depending on how long you have been employed with the city parish. Plus, we get compensatory time that is earned in lieu of getting paid for OT hours work. So there are plenty of options/benefits that are at ALL city parish employee's have at their disposal to utilize when they want to take off.
For anyone thinking it is fraud or that there is no way one he could work that many hours, he really isnt hard to find. See the DWI van and you are very likely to see him.
A lot of officers work very similar hours to that, but their extra income is earned by working extra duty details, thus it isnt money paid by the city-parish, so it isnt shown on that list.
For private details, the department regulates that you can not exceed more than 16 hours in a day. All details have to be approved by the department prior to working them and for checks adn balances purposes, the private employer paying the detail has to submit a monthly time sheet showing all officers working for them and the actual dates and times that they work. Then officers working details have to submit a monthly report to the extra duty office listing all private details worked that month and the dates and hours they worked each day. Most officers work private details at more than one place, so their monthly report that is turned in will have several employers listed on them.
