The program will launch with 500 bikes that will be placed downtown, at LSU and at Southern University. The bikes will have small electric motors that make it easier to pedal. Riders will use an app from Gotcha to pick up a bike at a designated hub. After they get to their destination, they return the bike to another hub.

How long before all the bikes are missing?

You have to have a credit card and an app to use the bikes BTW.

These are common in Chicago during the summer.

Not sure how it will work in Louisiana with the volatile springtime weather and very hot summers.

I’ve already “shared” my bike with “other” baton rougeians

Like 3 different bikes. Are they gonna share them back?

BR needs to get the scooters I've been seeing around here. Same concept, except with more head injuries

obligatory "They'll all be stolen in Baton Rouge in no time."

Despite the bikes working fine in Nola, Chicago, Denver, and Atlanta, where I've used the bikes and scooters thus far.

But Baton Rouge is so bad and violent and sucks that it'll never work here.

I look forward to them. The scooters would be absolutely cool to have in Baton Rouge as well(they do 12-14mph with my fat arse on them and get about 7 mile range).
I crossed downtown Atlanta on a Lime-S scooter just yesterday.

Typical BR responses.

The city finally does something that is a positive for the city and the only reaction is that they’ll be stolen.

Just keep on with the status quo, BR. It’s worked so well thus far.

This is way too vague of a reason to not have bikes.

They'll just rob you, you underestimate the locals resiliency.

What? If anything the BREC parks are very impressive for a city this size.

The three parks closest to us are always maintained, with updated equipment, and safe. And this isn’t some lilly white part of BR.
