IKEA furnituture is awful, but it’s perfect for a large portion of Baton Rouge around and especially college kids. You can furnish a whole apertment for like $200.
Things like plates and shower curtains are 1/2 price of a Walmart.

Nebraska Furniture Mart
So that's it?
They're just done playing football?
Sad state of affairs for a once great program.
Are there even any trees in the state of Nebraska to make furniture out of?

these developments, in combination with the top golf development, seem like a bad investment into the shite hole that is Baton Rouge
These seem much better suited for a place on the Northshore

The one near Plano seems to be massive
I visit that place every other weekend it seems. Probably the best all-around store I have ever been in. Bought tons of stuff from there.
You can literally buy just about anything there. Minus animals and cars

IKEA was supposed to build a location in Glendale, AZ(PHX metro has like 6 million people) and pulled out (as well as other locations they had planned in the US). They just laid off a bunch of employees worldwide and said they are focusing on more online stuff and smaller stores.
Yet people think they are gonna build a location in LA?!

They have a much better chance of landing ikea than NFM.

IKEA furnituture is awful,
We bought our kitchen table chairs from ikea.
They didnt even wrap them, just put them into a box and shipped them. First set came damaged, they wanted a bunch of pictures. Mainly just little chips out of the corners.
They sent a second set, most of those were chipped as well.
They sent a third set and finally just gave up.
We got to keep all the chairs, nothing functionally wrong them them just cosmetics. Had enough not damaged to make a full set and have like freaking 10 or more just sitting in the spare room for when people come over.

Tell that to the 3 or 4 new subdivisions currently being developed down that road.
Probably have a Walmart down there in a couple years
...and the taxpayers will bail them out in a few years via the Federal Flood Insurance Program. Hooray for welfare!

Nebraska furniture mart is the shite.

NFM actually is one of the better places to buy quality furniture from.

I’ve got an investor on the line ready to go for an IKEA in Scotlandville:

It's not heirloom furniture but some of it is good quality. And if you like midcentury modern design then IKEA stuff is good for the price. We've have a few of their Poang chairs for over 20 years since you can buy new cushions for them when they get dirty.

I agree the Poang chair is legit. We have one as well that is still in great shape and pretty comfy.

You’re just a Nebraska homer.
NFM is not Duncan Phyfe-quality.
No one in 150 years will be treasuring their NFM pieces.

With low crime and FANTASTIC local politics of East Baton Rouge, I guess it’s easy to see why y’all are so incredulous that retailers may consider the Free Republic of Livingston to locate.
Y’all will be real surprised to see Bass Pro Shops’ TIF pay off all of their bonds well before even the developers’ optimistic estimates. When that happens, the Parish, Sheriff, Parish School Board, City of Denham Springs and Gravity Drainage District #1 are going to see a huge influx of consistent tax dollars to expand public services, hire cops and improve infrastructure...
Till then, stay salty, my friends!!!!!

I love the removable couch cushion covers having a dog. If she tracks mud onto it so easy to pull off and wash.
Obviously IKEA stuff isn’t the best out there, but we’ve had some furniture from there for 3 years and it’s holding up great.

I sat on a $6,000 couch at the NFM in Plano. Man, that leather, but I was scared something in my pocket would rip it.

IKEA is some of the shittiest furniture you can buy. It’s walmart furniture but because it’s Swedish it’s cool. NFM is 100x’s better.
You obviously have never been inside of an IKEA.
