Someone will post that this is somehow still Baton Rouge's fault

Good chance that the driver was from BR

It's a straight road. Why does this keep happening?

Of course I pick today to drive to BR from Houston.
I hope they shot the driver on sight.

Maybe it's time to widen the basin bridge. Traffic slows and compresses there.

Lowering the speed limit didn't work. Forcing truck drivers into the right lane and only doing 55 MPH didn't work either. I think it would be great if we raised the speed limit to 80 MPH. Might get a few more people paying attention to the road instead of their phones.

Maybe it’s the 70 to 55/60 speed change that caused traffic to slow and compress.

possible damage to bridge
would be a nightmare to shut that down for any length of time

Yep. Put in a burning vehicle lane.

yep
the slower you make them go with 18 wheelers all over will be a disaster

Imagine if this happened during the cannonball run!

If you allowed the big trucks to drive in left lane and do 75 you would have more wrecks. So yes lowering the speed limit is working but keep in mind some of the idiots that travel the Basin Bridge are going way over the speed limit and dont care which leads to a wreck here and there

It's a straight road. Get off your phone and pay attention. This board is always looking for someone to blame. It's like CNN.

They did not have to. He burned to death. Sorry for your inconvenience.
