Baseball player walks away from 13 million dollars

I have the utmost respect for the guy for putting his family first, but this was a pretty illogical decision given the sheer magnitude of money he walked away from along with the short 6 month timeframe that he had to wait to collect on that money. Why not just wait 6 months and then retire? Any thoughts?
I should have prefaced this post by stating that this topic is open for discussion to individuals who haven't heard this story and want to make a relevant comment. If that doesn't apply to you then frick off.

This is some pretty old news man.

Pretty sure this topic has been covered here.

old story but yes, he's a dumbass, and his old lady will never let him forget it once the budget begins to tighten up

1) The story is like two months old.
2) LaRoche is a terrible employee. You can't bring your kid to work every single day. It's weird. And he's not good at - you know - hitting baseballs.

He may be Jared Fogle

You need to look up the whole story. It's weird, has it's own twists and turns, and honestly there is no winner.

Oh, because it's standard operating procedure for me to investigate if a topic has been discussed before discussing it. Gtfoh! You know how many topics have been recycled on this forum over the years.

He's a hothead dumbass. The team gave him plenty of rope and this knucklehead hung himself multiple times over a simple reasonable request.

White Sox are glad they don't have to pay him, he sucked last year

LaRoche has already earned an estimated $70 million in his career
smh if that happens

I can see the team not wanting a bunch of the player's kids running around the facility. I honestly think LaRoche was being a little bitch by throwing a fit and quitting.
end of it all, them parting ways was probably the best thing for all involved, though.

Well apparently the Sox told him he could. That was part of the reason he signed with them.

He's a dumbass.
I don't care how much money he had before then, that's 13 million more dollars that could protect and provide for his family and maybe some worthy cause that is deserving of that money.
You don't leave that much money over a petty squabble with your employer who owns the facilities you work at and signs your paychecks. Sometimes taking the high road is the answer here.
