are you saying he isn't supposed to drop his back shoulder?

Yes I am.

And it’s Jack, not Jody.

I'd look into the UL players, check their Instagram/Facebook and look on Google. I know since nil a lot of players have started doing their own camps and lessons. That'd be awesome for your son to see those young guys so good at what they do and you'd be helping out some college kid

Have you ever heard of Ronnie "Fielder's Choice" Banks? Might want to check out some of his instructional videos like this one

There are definitely some good guys out there who can teach, and most will give you a good discount if your wife is hot enough.

We all know it’s a little late, but there is still time to get him a perfect swing.

Buy 30 tennis balls and pitch to him as often as possible. He won’t be scared on being hit and you can gradually speed it up. Just don’t teach anything else like throwing or catching with them.

We have a tee and hit in backyard. That’s about the extent of his hitting

Good, use it

At a 9 year old level, pitches are coming in 35-45 mph, which means there is a noticeable arc in the pitch. They are going to want to swing up with the bat not level and not rolling the wrists. This is going to cause some pop-ups and/or pulling to opposite field.

Teach him to keep the bat close to his ear, not up and away. Drive the butt of the bat forward, level swing (do not drop the end). Open up hips after contact point.

Seriously, waste money on pitching lessons instead.

Dude he’s nine years old. He’s been playing coach pitch and hitting off a pitching machine for the past three years.

Let him sit in the box and throw balls at him not to him teach him to not to be afraid of the ball first and foremost. Hit him a few times. Show him that it’s not going to kill him.

Then start throwing him regular softballs and let him get comfortable in the box and teach him not to be a pussy and back out of the box and teach him to crowd the plate

Other than that soft toss and practice hitting off the tee to get his swing down and teach him basic fundamentals. If he’s got it he’s got it

Also most kids will respond much better to a coach rather than their own dad.

THIS. No one bats (pun intended) an eye when kids go to swim lessons for basically that same reason. Also, screw the haters. If the boy wants them, get him the lessons. If you and the instructor are cool with it, sit in and pick up the concepts and then work on them father/son down the road.

I'd be willing to give you my son Claxxtyn's coaches info. Your boy Huntyr will be a sure fire future first rounder.

Do it yourself. Through beans to him.

If you can hit a bean, you can hit a ball

The back shoulder absolutely must drop and needs to be below the front shoulder at contact. You won’t find an elite hitter who keeps his back shoulder high or even level with the front shoulder. It is always lower than the front.

Key is that he has to rotate his torso/stomach as the back shoulder lowers. That can keep the swing from going too up.

Baw you done fricked up if you getting him his first hitting coach at 9. The day after Braxton was born I already hired a coach. We had him doing drills at 1 month and now look where he’s at 3 years later:
That's the kid who's going to be 30, and the guy wearing eye black and demanding to play shortstop on his coed rec league softball team.
