His name came up in the Duplantier thread and it piqued my interest. I vaguely remember his involvement in the Iran Contra mess in the mid-eighties so I did a little googling on him today. To describe his as a fascinating story, is falling short - Colombian drug lords, US Presidents, the CIA, Marxist rebels - it's all there. Truly fascinating - I am thoroughly intrigued! There are several books on Seal and his involvement w the CIA, Reagan, Clinton, Bush etc. Has anyone read a book on Seal they recommend?
Also, any of you BT folks have any personal anecdotes or stories about Seal.

My fraternity was on probation and couldn't have parties on campus, so we had one at the fleabag motel where he was murdered. That's all I got.

One of his airstrips was out near the Amite River in Port Vincent where I used to run around quite a bit.

Seal was forced out into the open by the same judge that laid the screws to Jim Brown and Edwin Edwards while on an opiate based pain pill fueled long term bender during the trials.

Judge Polozoala cost the man his life by making him live in a halfway house in Baton Rouge without police protection. Very, very curious decision many say was motivated by high level government folks and potentially Spooks in the Intelligence Community wanting him offed by the cartels. Doing their dirty work in essence since the longer Barry was upright and breathing the longer he had an opportunity to drop a dime on everyone from the cartels to the Government.

Simply put, he knew way too much about all the right people.

I'm friends with the governors' pilot from that era.

He's got some stories about Edwards and Barry that make me sad I missed the good ol days.

Also my mother in law used to frick him.

I mean she fricked everyone, but he is more well known than most.

You may have had your frat party at a fleabag motel, but it was most assuredly not where Barry Seal was murdered.

He was murdered in the parking lot of the Salvation Army @ Airline and Maribel Dr. in B.R. The Salvation Army building also had a halfway house where Seal was spending his nights.

He backed his car in about where the shorter tree is, next to a couple of big donation boxes. He was murdered as soon as he turned off his engine.

I lived not too far from there at the time. I had friends who lived much closer and heard the shots.
