All owls are badass. Second only to eagles as far as birds go imo.

A screech owl will literally scare the poop out of you on a quiet, dark, night. They sound like a woman getting murdered.

I use to hunt and fish behind Three Rivers in the Silver lakes , Smith Bay Area . You wouldn’t believe the diversity of wildlife. At night while frogging the Screech owls , Gators , nutria and everything else starts talking it can get freaky.

In the early 70's my dad found a few baby Great Horned Owls in a tree trunk a crew had cut down. Something must have happened to their mother because the next day he checked on them, and some were wandering around near the tree trunk. He was afraid a predator would get the rest of them, and brought two of them home. We kept them in a heated storage room, and fed them baby food with eye droppers. One was sickly, and died. The other one got bigger, and would perch on your gloved finger. He never learned to fly, and never tried to get away. We'd take him in the house, and let him hang out in the backyard. He'd always come back to the storeroom where we left food for him. The summer after my freshman year we were moving from Kosciusko, MS to the Farmerville, LA. We called the Jackson Zoo to see what we needed to do with him. They wanted him, so we took him to them. Never saw him again after that trip. His name was Tapper.
