You don’t think he rents his stall and buys his own supplies and products?

They raised their price for whatever reason; it doesn't really matter why.
Either keep using their service or don't. Tip or don't. It's up to you, and they'll have to see if they can make it with their pricing.
ETA: My barbershop raised their price. I like their service and I still tip them the same.

Hell no you cheap bast*rd. His cost of doing business is not going down and will continue to go up, more so under this illegitimate regime. He’s got to raise a family too. If you don’t like the service, go elsewhere. Otherwise, pony up.

I’ve done it this way for years.

Most barbers/stylists who don't own their own shops are still self-employed and aren't really considered "employees". Most rent their booths from the shop/salon, buy their own supplies, keep their own licenses and such, and set their own prices. It is a more convenient arrangement for most to rent their booth space from a building owner. Very few, if any, barbers/stylists are getting paid hourly wages.
Yea I get that. What I am saying is that if you are controlling your prices by yourself, you put the price what you want to get without a tip.
I go to a girl that rents a booth in a salon building. She pays rent to the place and thats it. She isnt giving them a cut of what she pulls in. Just charge me what you want without a tip.

My Barber use to charge $15, I gave her a $20 and told her to keep the change. Then she went to $18 and I gave her a $20 and told her to keep the change. Now she's at $20 and and I give $20 and she has no change to keep.
JFC. What a dick move.

I’m amused by the fact that you are receiving the same service you’ve received for years, are paying the same amount for that service that you’ve paid for years, yet are being called a dick for it.

The overwhelming feedback from the OT should be telling you something dude. You're a cheap moron who has no idea how the economy or running a business works.

Tipping for haircuts is dumb.
You're paying for the person to cut your hair and then you tip them to cut your hair?

He's not paying the same amount.

Why?

Why
Because they provide a skilled service and should base their prices accordingly. Do you tip an electrician, a plumber, or the yard guy?

Not all are able to set their own price. That depends on where they're working. I don't tip electricians or plumbers or lawn guys, but the most prevalent view is that barbers generally are in a category of persons who receive tips.
I don't care if you or anyone else does or doesn't, but it's just not odd to do so. I do find the almost celebratory statements of not doing so to be odd.

Some people do, including at least one in this thread. Another says they tip the dog groomer. frick's sake......it is like no one understands that these people are setting their own rates. They aren't like servers at a restaurant who have no say in what they are paid in wages.

We tip our dog groomer. They have employees who do not "set their own rates".
Plus, I choose to tip people to engender good will. I don't see why that is such an odd thing to do.

Hate to tell you but no one will reduce their prices after increases. It's not just inflation that made him raise prices. Everything around him went up and those costs are dropping when inflation drops. He should have said I'm raising my prices!
