As do I. I don't expect my employer to give me an $18,000 raise overnight because of it.
Well that’s the beauty of our economy.. simply find a new barber or ask for a raise

Understandable but this service industry fad of increasing prices because everyone on Facebook is saying "inflation sucks and Joe Biden increased gas and egg prices" is annoying.
man this is such a dumb take that i dont even know how to respond. talking on facebook about inflation sucking is a fad. increasing prices due to inflation isnt a fad. can you not see that those are different things

I have no problem with businesses raising prices, they have to to survive.
I DO have a problem when they raises prices AND add another line item to the total bill with some additional fee they've made up. In those cases, yes it comes out of tip... if they get one at all.

When was the last time he increased prices?
The OP might have a job where he gets a 3% raise annually...how long has the Barber kept his price static before raising it.
Maybe the barber should up his prices 3% a year.

So when your company gives you a raise due to inflation and prices drop on goods and services, do you have to give the raise back? If your companies costs of doing business goes up it is passed on to the consumer.

Out of everything I've said in this thread, how in the hell do you get communism from this?

Buy a flowbee and cut your own hair.

Why would you tip a barber who sets their own prices?
Upon further review, after reading a page or two of this thread, people are tipping yard crews and dog groomers, too. Good grief....
Those people price their own work according the the value they feel they provide. If they believe their work/service is valued higher than what they are charging, it is not my responsibility to make up the difference. They should raise their prices if they believe they aren't getting paid enough for their work/service.

Because you have an uneducated view of capitalism and dont seem to understand that prices go up in our economy, then implicitly implying that “the cycle continues” when given the basic truth about capitalism and your options.

Good lord

Entire thread was to ask if others would continue tipping for a service if the prices for the same service increased on the basis of "inflation." Turned into a shite show of people defending this mentality of that shite just being the new norm.

I must get my haircut at the same place as I read the same sign. Spread your haircut out farther over time so the increase doesn't effect you or stop tipping.

I tip my barber well, the barber shop recently went up 5$ per service, but I kept paying him the same amount. It's still a good bit over what he now charges.
I don't understand tipping an owner of a business. If he wants to get paid more, he should just set his prices higher.

Judging by th8s thread you can see not all of the customer base can handle that.

No it turned into you not having a basic understanding of inflation. When was the last time your barber increased prices? Name the last time prices went down on a national scale eg; deflation?
You seem to think because his job only requires a high school education that he doesn’t understand inflation and he should just grin and be happy because you’re his client. Everything he buys had gone up. Personal and business. His dollar isn’t the same and you have choices.

My barber went up from $25 to $30 at the beginning of the year includes tip. Appointment only which is great too along with a beer. In and out in less than 30 minutes.
