Big city biglaw. Large firms hired 7.5% fewer first-year associates year-over-year from 2024-2025. Lowest numbers since 2011.
A $200/mo Claude account plus Westlaw and enough non-AI driven legal experience to avoid the GIGO phenomenon, and small firms/solo practitioners can compete with the antiquated big firm model.
In my estimation, law is a top-10 field for AI disruption. Maybe top-3.

Son in law had to attend Southern due to circumstances. He’s a multimillionaire in less than 10 years. Mainly does oil and gas and a tad of other stuff for family and friends. Never chased any ambulances and never really hung a shingle.
So a lot has to do with the individual and not what institution you attend.

Maybe. Big law also started inflating salaries and bonuses right before AI became ubiquitous. First year associates are starting at close to $250k despite knowing dick.
I think the other poster is on the money. You’ll see smaller firms start to compete with bigger firms for clients that wouldn’t have left the vault 50 or whatever a few years ago.
