That’s like increasing the quality of your shite by eating a cleaner diet.

Nah, Jacques is smart, just not a great lawyer. Much better as a politician.

So spend 5x more for tulane education and end up barely better than LSU?, if at all
That's true for the middle of the pack, and especially true for the bottom of the class, but if you are in the top 10% Tulane opens up a lot more doors than LSU out of state.

Doesn’t every atty pass on their last try?
I thought he phrased that weirdly too, like no duh he didn't just take it for fun after he passed.

At least half:
Only 4 years+ publics that should exist:
LSU-BR
SU-BR
La Tech
Only undergrads:
ULL
NLU
SLU
Convert to 2 year/junior colleges
LSU-E
LSU-A
McNeese
LSUNO
Schools that should be shuttered:
All the rest
I actually looked at this the other day when the whole "ULL and ULM should drop to FCS" line came out.
Based on 2024/2025 enrollment, there are only 3/14 universities in LA that have above 10k undergrads: LSU, ULL, and SLU. 9/14 have less than 6000 undergrads. NWSU and Tech have between 6000-10000.
We don't need 9 universities for 50k students. It's not like LA is the geographical size of Texas, you can get to anywhere in the state within 6 hours. Reducing these redundancies would free up revenue to lift the other schools or just save budget generally.

Those who graduate law school but can’t pass the bar then what do they do end up doing? Think I know one girl who graduated from Mississippi College of Law and is now a paralegal. Assume Bar exam was an issue. Is that what most end up doing?
My cousin went to nursing school then got her MBA. She's an administrator at LSUHSC.

It's not about the Bar exam.
They are letting too many students into law school!
It's very hard to get into med school and too easy to get into law school. Only top students should be getting into both professions. It's wrong to let these students go to law school for 3 years and then they can't pass the bar or get a job.
We have way too many lawyers and not enough doctors.

When I took the bar 15 or so years ago, law school and bar exam study classes were essentially worthless. couldve studies the practice exam booklet for 2-3 weeks and passed straight out of undergrad really
Law School should be treated more like med school or similar to how it is done in some european conuntries. It should be more difficult to get into (there should be less law schools) and there should be a portion that is equivalent to medical residency with hands on practical experience

I agree but fwiw your summer associate positions and internships are supposed to provide the practical experience it's just that many don't.
I'm surprised we haven't had law schools closing already with the ridiculous costs and the demographic cliff hitting at the same time. I went about the same time you did and there's no way I could do it now, it's even more expensive now. I don't know how younger people today are doing it or what they're planning on doing as adults.

I meant it can only be taken a certain number of times (5?) and he didn’t make it until he was out of tries

Because it is not a requirement or some students struggle to find them, it should be baked into the the degree itself and it should be close to what 50% of law school is. It is much more practical way of learning
But it would also require law school to be far mor exclusive

Are you banned for life from taking it after that? Or have to go back to law school?

I go part-time at Loyola. I live and work in Baton Rouge. Southern makes part-time students go 4 times per week, where we only go to classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights, with an asynchronous lecture on top of that each week.

Just looked it up. 5 failures, they stick a fork in you, you’re done. For life. Not that it would have mattered, he’s a professional grifter, he’d have played his games whether he passed the bar or not.

What did they do to turn things around?
Word is that they revamped their Bar Prep program because they were tired of trailing LSU and Loyola in Bar passage rates for the Louisiana Bar exam. This comes from one of my civil law professors who was lighting us up about this when the results came out.

You literally argued against your own point. If they let anyone into Law school and 90% pass the BAR exam, the BAR exam is too easy
