In the age where the race card is over played, this may be legit usage but the story is inconclusive on that point. The credit union teller/branch manager are definitely idiots. I'm not sure why the didn't immediately call the customer and just ask her. Seems simple enough.

I don't know all the details, but given that you are not allowed to even question police without risking an overzealous officer, at some point, it could probably be embarassing/emasculating if you have to get on the ground, get arrested, get yelled at, have a gun ready to be drawn or actually drawn on you. At some point, there is a helplessness factor, compounded with everyone now thinking you did something wrong when you didn't.

The movie producer that recently had this happen got called by a black teller and black officers responded so this must be one that can be used to actually make it something to blow up

I have a business from which I regularly issue $10k+ checks to clients. I can say, without equivocation, that I receive teller calls requesting verification of my black clients’ IDs and check verification at a rate 10x that of white clients

Having worked in retail banking for years, 90% of the check fraud we saw was from black people. I'm not saying the bank wasn't in the wrong, but chances are they have seen a lot of fraud checks roll through there recently, and were on the lookout for it.

That being said, the manager should have known better and immediately called the signer to verify.

Right, none of that happened though.

According to the bank, the check had “red flags” like an old log of the credit union, as well as a routing and checking account number that didn’t match the member’s information.

Sounds like the bank doing due diligence.

When blacks call everyone racist, it comes back around. America is far from racist in this world.

That director dude passed a note to the teller asking her to be discreet about the withdrawal.

Who passes a note to a bank teller? Does this guy talk about bombs with the TSA?

Why does the media continue to capitalize the word 'black'? It's a fricking color, an adjective used to describe physical appearance. Not a fricking title.

I’d be furious if someone called the cops on me over a (legit) 3k check

How poor do I look?

He also passed her his ID at the same time, and had his debit card in the machine.

Nothing unusual can ever happen to a black person again without it being because of their blackness

We’ve heard it so many times no one cares

Not sure what this means but OP was implying that whoever he does yard work for has 250k in the bank and calls shots there based on that. If that were the case I’d have my way with all of the hotties in all of the branches where I bank. $250k today unfortunately isn’t a big chunk of change anymore.
