No reasonable person is arguing liability. Once the facts came out, civil liability was clear.

i would think the Black Community that contributed to their cause would like a chunk of that change. I think its appropriate IF dispersed amongst other groups. If all of the money goes to the Gray family and they start to burn the money on lavish homes, cars, etc. .....then smh .

Honestly don't really care about the whole situation. Obviously someone screwed up here, but the issue is that no one whose business got destroyed during the riots is getting a payment without an insurance premium going up. If you get wrongfully killed your family shouldn't be searching for a payday.
I'd be pissed at my family and friends if they looted and rioted because I died, not matter how it happened. Just pure garbage.

Serious question...
Do the family members that are benefiting financially from this ruling have to claim the settlement as income? How do these situations affect welfare and housing? Assuming they end up with 3M split across several members it has to be less than a lifetime of government benefits.

Seriously....$6.4 mil.
What was the economic value of Mr. Gray? What was he doing in life to warrant a present value of future cash flows equal to $6.4 mil??
Now, if they would pay the family a $1 million...and that is a stretch...and agreed to give the difference to the community or a non-profit, then I can somewhat agree. Even the difference is too much.
What a joke the legal system is evolving too.

Well they probably will. People who get that much money that quick after having very little money will spend like there's no tomorrow. That's not being racist, it's being honest. Its too easy to throw out the race card now a days. It's their money and they can do what they want with it, but that doesn't make people racist for assuming they will blow through it all. It happens a lot more often than you think.
