No, injury/death settlements usually don't have any tax consequences. Also, there are sometimes statutory caps on attorney's fees set when suing a municipality/government entity. In FL attorneys fees on sovereign immunity cases are capped at 25%

Of course it was. Because it's simply a lingual corruption of the Spanish Negro or Negra, which come from the Latin Niger, meaning black, simply.
Could there be connotations? Sure. But I suspect much of the pure virulence associated with the word is exaggerated.

I am thinking it didn't get really offensive until the 50's or 60's...but now it dates back to the 1700's...its a fricking word...get over it and move on
