Got my little girl a whiffle ball and bat yesterday, and she squared up immediately and made contact first pitch.

We don’t play travel ball, it’s select ball with tourneys every other weekend for the most part. There is enough players in central Mississippi that we don’t have to travel. The only reason we play that is because the Rec leagues are so awful now.
I love watching my boy play, but I ain’t about to drive every weekend.
And yes, there are still parents and coaches who act a fool during games and get tossed on a regular basis. Unreal.

Play OTC, not USAAA , events and this won’t be a problem. Porkchop, yes the guy’s name is Porkchop, doesn’t allow that kind of nonsense at his events.

Model has been changing. Jaxxxxon's family is getting tapped out and can't borrow any more money, so these tournaments are reducing team entry fees and increasing gate fees.

All of those (besides travel baseball) are legit enterprises with good coaching and opportunities to play against high-flight competition. In addition, to make it to higher and higher level tournaments, you actually have to win something.
Travel baseball has become rec-level baseball kids who have parents that generally feel that spending a bunch of borrowed money on travel ball makes them feel superior. In addition... it's a way for moms to make sure they get to only be on a team with other moms they like... instead of their kid being drafted/assigned to a team.

U-Trip has become "we will let you do anything, and put up with anything, as long as you pay your fees"
I'm curious to see how OTC does long-term. I know a number of teams who are starting to play more OTC and less U-Trip... Yes Porkchop runs it and it will be interesting if he keeps his standards as pressure against him grows.
