let's raise rates to stop spending...yeah that's stupid
wanna know why?
It AIN'T US spending!
It's the freaking federal government printing money left and right to prop up entitlements and to continue their money laundering schemes overseas through "foreign aide"
How about stopping that FIRST

Or how about let's pay off student college loan debt of the folks that didn't finish college or dropped out right in the middle of a fricking recession? Biden economics what a fricktard he is.

Now isn’t a good time to be writing checks for other people’s problems?

This is just the beginning. I think things will get much worse by the end of the year.

We probably were in one at the beginning of the year.

This is my concern as well. That inflation will eventually slow down or stop but the "new" prices will remain and becomes the normal prices. But that income will never catch up.

we are holding off on major purchases.
I'm doing the opposite. Interest rates are still relatively low and inflation is going to continue getting worse

Same here, purchases and vacation. Putting money into my home to make it more energy efficient...

Oh it’s not ending, they just keep increasing it. This was from October last year:
quote:
This long-overdue update raised maximum SNAP benefits by 21 percent this year and going forward compared to what they otherwise would have been, but SNAP households saw a smaller immediate increase in their benefits when the change took effect in October 2021. That’s because a temporary 15 percent increase in SNAP benefits established by the December 2020 COVID-19 relief bill and extended by the American Rescue Plan expired at the end of September. Thus, most SNAP households’ benefits rose only modestly in October.
People getting SNAP only saw a “modest increase” in their benefits in October. It was actually a 21% increase but since the other “temporary increase” of 15% that they’d had for more than a year was expiring, it didn’t *feel* like much of an increase. The government has been throwing extra money at these people getting free food for more than 2 years and we’re wondering why food prices have increased so much
Don’t worry, the gravy train still isn’t ending!
Texas just announced another extension of “emergency benefits” for people getting free food.
quote:
HHSC received federal approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to extend the maximum, allowable amount of SNAP benefits to recipients based on family size, and all SNAP households will receive a minimum of $95 in emergency allotments. This additional emergency allotment should appear in recipients’ accounts by May 31.
The emergency May allotments are in addition to the more than $6.7 billion in benefits previously provided to Texans since April 2020.
This “emergency” has gone on more than 2 full years now and anyone that isn’t getting free money thrown at them has had to just keep increasing their own grocery budget so the freeloaders can fill up their carts with extra food.
