With some photographers it does.

I think we've looked at our wedding album once since we got it

And that was because someone wanted to see it for wedding ideas

I bet you have framed pictures around the house. Your parents and in laws too.

That's it? None of the two of you together hanging up? That's odd.

We paid about 5k. That included engagement and wedding pics. For the wedding, his photographer wife was also there to help.

My wife's dad paid like 5k for a photographer. I can not justify spending that much money for a few days worth of work but it made my wife happy as shite.

We paid entirely too much for the shite we got. I think we paid around $3500 for everything. I could have paid an amateur photographer $500 and gotten a better product

Did you not look at a portfolio before hiring? If I paid a photographer (or anyone) $3500+, I make sure they know what they are doing and produce a good product.

I just booked mine for next year.
Looked around for months and found someone to work with my budget since I am paying for the wedding.
Got him for $950, includes 4 hours, print release, and all images on disk to print the ones I want.
They have a website and I met with him in person. He does real good work.

And too add to this...

Make sure the photos they show you are from real weddings. Big thing now is hiring models and doing a photo shoot to create a "pseudo" portfolio.

Why on earth would someone spend 4 grand on pictures people might look at a few times?

The wedding industry is such a shill.

Spend those extra thousands on your honeymoon.
