Auto delivery gone right

I had been kinda looking for the wife a new little SUV and one big enough to tailgate in yet not shitty on mileage. She has one so I started looking at everything not what she already had to be different. However Mama kept hinting she wanted another one like what she had. So this is not a diesel Denali Yukon etc story. ( like that poor bastard who had an idiot deliver his) but the sticker was about $58,000 for a little 3-row SUV - what she wanted. I casually mentioned it to a friend of mine who works in the car biz but not even as I’m looking, but more so bitching because I couldn’t find exactly what the Mrs. was wanting. This was Tuesday.
On Wednesday, I get a text from a lady who I know through her dealings with my friend, and she’s now the sales manager at a dealership near me. And she’s got a ‘26 model pretty much what my wife wanted. I forwarded said text to wife - this is not an uncommon occurrence for my wife and I to text each other from time to time. Wife replies to me with a big red heart. I then engage this lady with the understanding that I’m busy and not even remotely in the market for a car today. She replies back with numbers that would make that guy that posts his long car buying guide blush so I tapped in. This was Wednesday at noon, and I even told the lady that I was way too busy to deal with a car deal this week.
Thursday at noon she’s at my office. All the paperwork completed gassed up cleaned up and ready to deliver. I swapped keys, gave her my old title and she left. I might have clicked 4 things on my phone from her dealership and mama is driving what she wanted. No haggling on price they were $15,000 off sticker and gave me $3,000 more on my trade than it blue booked for. Nothing wrong with the car, it has every option you can put on one for that model and it’s brand arse new. Not going to posts pics of any of it because I don’t want to. Just saw that guy’s post about that idiot who couldn’t get a Yukon off a trailer - and I had the complete opposite experience from a localish reputable car dealer.

It’s crazy what people pay just to say they have an SUV and not a minivan. As if driving a Kia Telluride is a flex. OP I understand you got a bunch knocked off of sticker but I bet a lot of people are actually paying that much

Honestly, it is rare in life to have a car-buying experience that you don’t come out of feeling like you got totally screwed. Congrats on accomplishing one of life’s most unpleasant tasks in a relatively painless manner.
Enjoy the weekend of sex you will get out of it too!

If that’s not a sign that we are about to go into a depression I don’t know what is.

Enjoy your “something from a Korean manufacturer” ownership experience.

I worked as a carsalesman for a couple of months. I saw many buyers feeling giddy about their great deal and as they drove off in their shiny new car the salesman and management were high-fiving and grinning. Every time someone brags about how they got a steal from the dealership I think of this.

It doesn’t have to feel this way. Find a car you like that fits your budget, and buy it. Of course the dealer will make money. Every time you buy anything, there is a profit for the salesman. I think people get so wrapped up in “did I make good deal? Did my neighbor get a better deal than I did?” that it stresses them out. I enjoy buying cars. It’s like going to a casino. The house will always win but as long as you understand that and stay in your budget, you can have a good time.

As opposed to a GM or Ford that leaves the lot with warning lights on?
