I dunno maybe we should expect these adults to stop forcing each other to drink to the point where death sometimes occurs.
You honestly think this type of thing is condoned and is happening at every fraternity and sorority across the country?
Honest question.

They took all the couches, and removed all the fraternity photo composites from the walls, put them together into a nice bonfire, poured gas on them, lit it and ran. There easily could have been multiple deaths.
Weird thing is we were a low key fraternity. There were two main suspects, one with a connection to our fraternity and one scenario with a pissed off Chimes Street loser who got his arse kicked by Kapa Sigs and mistakenly though it was us.

The LSU Greek system is a sh!t show and has been allowed to become such by those looking for an excuse to be rid of it.

There will always be accidents (like champagne corks), but these aren't just accidents.
Maybe we should stop being so damn reactionary, making Rule after Rule regarding these legal adults and alcohol so that they keep finding new and secretive ways to drink and party like they've done since fraternities were a thing.
It all started with Ben Wynne died in '97 and schools all over the country have lost their minds ever since, while these incidents continued to happen more and more. Ignore it if they like but LSU, among other colleges have turned drinking and partying on campus from some casual stuff you do in the afternoon to cool off from class (you could literally drop off kegs on fraternity row every friday and drink on the lawns in public not too long ago) into a "Taboo" of sorts and a beurocratic nightmare just to have a sliver of the same fun your parents used to enjoy on a nightly basis.
I mean shite, When are these Universities going to realize the more they tell people they cant party and drink(in a way that is practically Legendary about college 20 years ago) the farther and to more dangerous lengths the students are going to go to try and get a glimpse of that life.

No but pretending that 17 deaths isn't a travesty is insane.

But when somebody is to the point where they can barely stand, much less walk, the "friends" around him have a responsibility as human beings to, at a minimum, walk him away. If you know a person is no longer capable of making reasonable decisions yet continue to push further, you should bear some level of consequence. At a fraternity house, in a car, at backyard BBQ or an assisted living home.

The drive to regulate fraternity drinking is a textbook example of the law of unintended consequences.
It has gone from an activity that mostly took place in the safe confines of a fraternity house where anyone could crash. No one died from drinking and DWIs were nearly unheard of.
Now it is highly regulated. Do less people drink? No, but it's taboo so they binge drink in private.

I don't disagree with that. Kids are gonna drink. I'm just saying that people acting like deaths due to hazing are normal is crazy.

I lived in the house. I was first man out. It's 100% true. It's not in question. The Fire Marshall publicly explained it, couches and other furniture and composites were brought from three different rooms and lit on fire with an accelerant.

It's amazing how quiet all you betas are when you're on campus. You sure get loud on the internet.
I'm not in a frat, nor do I have a problem with frats, but I'll say whatever I want while on campus

Oddly "Roswell" was trending on Atlanta twitter and to my surprise it is tied to this.
