Rainey st is good for barhopping and Barton Springs is a good way to spend a couple of hours and get some sun.

Loved these.

One day we also took a drive out of town to do the river float trip (I believe it was San Marcos, the river that's really clear) and stopped at Salt Lick for lunch. The BBQ was great, the float trip was awesome, and the "scenery" was unreal.

Taco Cabana is legit for a hangover breakfast.

The other two mentioned, way overrated.

If you're wanting to chase some California soccer moms, go sit at any bar in the Domain. The more expensive, the better your chances.

Your post was perfect. This is where I prefer to stay. Feels much safer than anything downtown and there seems to be a bar/restaurant for whatever you feel like eating or seeing

Luling is a haul for BBQ.

It’s worth it though! Get the “hots” (ring sausage) and don’t fall for the “Luling BBQ” place across the street. City Market is what people go to Luling for.

Thanks! Happy to be here. Let me know if you have a spot to hunt anything around here and looking for someone to join. My closest spot is the in-laws up in China Spring.

The secret to Austin is to lower your expectations. It has become wildly overrated. People act like its so amazing but in reality its just a cool spot with some good scenery, good food, and good bars. If you don’t fool yourself into thinking youre embarking on something special you will really enjoy it.

Go hang around Steiner Ranch and lake Austin. Stay away from downtown.

best thing Austin has going for it is that bypass loop where the speed limit is about 80-85
