Damn you mad. Sorry for being into sustainability and a minimalistic approach to life

Are you surprised Texas is hot as shite in August. Nola is also and you get that fermented piss and throw up smell there.
You are an idiot if you cant find this in Austin.
Is it the best place in the world, no. Is it the best place between Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, absolutely.

The whole Austin vibe has been packaged and corporatized.
It was really an awesome place before the population boom. Glad I got to experience it then, but saddens me to know its gone forever.

So, when was its run? Mid 90's to 2007 or so?
Posted on 8/13/16 at 12:13 pm to brgfather129
Haha that is correct. However, I am a software engineer and have to tech some

Pre-2000. Of course old timers will tell you the 60's-70's was the old Austin's true heyday.

I love New Orleans, but I had to downvote you...

And as far as overrated goes, Nashville is probably the shittiest city on the planet.
Plus 1. frick that place

Yeah, Nashville gets gratuitous love for some odd reason.

Shitty weather, what they consider a hike or being active is laughable, and the people think way too highly of it. Yeah, you are better than the rest of Texas. No, that is not saying much. Give me NOLA over this joint any day. I give it 1 star. Here's to ATX
I agree with this. I have family that's been in Austin for decades, and they're a little sickened by how it's changed. It's not nearly as cool as it used to be.
But let's be real hippie. We're both in Boulder. This town is in the exact same boat. Once a really fun, cool town that's been take over by rich yuppie douchebags. They think they're tolerant, but are completely hypocritical. They're tolerant if you agree with them.
The cost of living isn't the only reason why the people that made boulder cool, have all moved to Nederland, Longmont, or Denver. I know once I harvest my grow, I'll be moving to one of those places. Probably on the west side of Denver, Glendale, or Englewood, since I've got a pit from Nola.
I'm personally ready to move back to Nola in a lot of ways. It's fricked up, but it feels more like home than anywhere I've ever lived.

I just moved to Austin. I agree to a point. It's over saturated and becoming corporatized. Rainey street, which used to be authentic and organic Austin, is now sandwiched in between sky rise developments and feels like a contrivance.

fricked up how Denver and a few surrounding cities handle this

I play drums and percussion. I used to play in a lot of parades and couple Mardi Gras Indian tribes. I miss all of the music around there. I've been playing in some bands since I've been here, I have a gig at a Longmont brewery tonight, but it's not quite the same.
Hell, I went to see Rebirth last weekend. The show was over by 11:30. I'm not used to seeing them even hit the stage until 11. It was disappointingly short. I like many aspects of the area, but Nola still has my heart. And in all reality, after two years away, it probably always will.

Probably true.
But I'd be pissed for a year or 2 figuring out how to exist in a real winter climate.
