I disagree. The moment that cop would have holstered the gun and unholstered his taser that bull would have charged. He was charging ANYWAY.
Also, tasers aren't 100% effective.

it pretty much is the end result, when you put yourself into this situation

Maybe. This one makes the dead guy look pretty fricking stupid.

It’s not the cops job to protect people from their own stupidity. It’s to enforce the law.
Anything beyond that is lagniappe.

Zero sympathy for the perp

Probably. Hope not so much. Without knowing what the initial interaction is based on, and assuming the gun is the deceased's, the cop is completely justified in his reaction. He did not go for the taser because he didn't want to give up a weapon for a single second after the guy's gun fell out and he didn't comply initially.

JUST IN(BLURRED): Aurora police officer sh**ts and k*lls man who started fighting after attempted traffic stop
APD says a vehicle being stopped for a traffic violation crashed into one car, crossed the median, and hit another vehicle
The suspect exited the car and began to fight
Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain said the officer spotted a firearm near the suspect
The identity of the deceased has not been released

I’m going to back off my original opinion. I didn’t realize, on my first viewing, that during those opportunities, he was encouraging a third party to pick up a gun.

I have to admit, the way this uses **s to replace Os, makes me laugh unneccessarily.
My brain desperately wants to read this as 'shitting the man', instead of shooting.

Well, like GRTiger said, we should be able to move on from this with no fanfare. It was a cop killing someone, it was recorded, and we know what happened.
I'd actually question him for not shooting sooner when the perp advanced, after discovering the gun.

Yea this is stupid. Dude tries to holster his pistol and the guy charges him and hes screwed.

Why not just shoot him in the knees?

And then he could still hit an artery.

Because I demand that when a cop feels the need to shoot someone - and it's as justified as it clearly is in this case since the guy was pulled over for reckless driving/crossing a medium/almost killing people/being drunk or drugged up/etc and refused to be arrested and had a gun and wanted to fight the cop and getaway - that they target a large enough area to ensure they kill them.

The cop could have just shot to wound him and all In the shoulder or the elbow and shite.

Because, by definition, you're using deadly force. You can't use deadly force in a manner intended to not be deadly force.

What are the legal standards for that? Where do you propose he shoots the guy? And if he misses and a bullet ricochets behind him?
People like you eventually would just demand the cops allow violent criminals beat them. This is how we get more violence on the streets.
