the board of the COA get additional seats, each to be appointed by each BR-EBR councilperson. create a merge of public accountability with COA management
They'll fight that tooth and nail. The only way they'll be able to operate their scheme how they want to is with continued minimal, or no, oversight. The moment they have someone looking over their shoulder is the moment the master plan crumbles.

How could the governor's office not get involved into looking at this mess and turning a blind eye? If the COA sends the audit to JBE's staff then shouldn't he begin to look into the possible corruption taking place under his watch?
if you want an issue to plant the seed of destroying JBE, this is a good one to use

He isn't that smart.
He is too busy drumming up racism and other injustices to be clever

Graves is going to absolutely pants JBE in 2019. people love to bring up Landry but I think it'll end up being Graves unseating JBE. that white middle class female vote that put JBE in office will turn out for Graves bigly.

exactly
but what i proposed is 100% reasonable, esp given the large sums of public money they'll manage. explaining why there shouldn't be public oversight will just force them to create a new message (and we know they're fricking terrible at creating messages). but it's not like "white people" would be running the show...with the current board and the makeup of the council, the influence of white politicians would be way in the minority

It's in plain view in section 3 of their own by laws.

uh, if Jeff Landry uses the AGs office to investigate and bring down the COA and this political machine, he'll have major ammo against JBE and any other politician

Yeah, I doubt FEMA will invest too much time over $12k (of which over $6k went to TCA alone)
If someone else does all the investigative legwork for them though....

He should be looking into it unless JBE pulls his strings.

In the COA bylaws they annually audit themselves (joke) and send the report to the governor's office.
If I had to guess, that audit is sent to a office and it's a file unopened.

if that happens, sure. i think in general, Landry will not have the state wide appeal Graves would.

How much heat does the COA need to have before Landry's office begins snooping then?

i get it, but i think Landry is smart as a politician and sees the blood in the water
he'd have major face in SELA and has south LA roots in cajun country, so if he could primary Graves he'd have literally the ultimate "gotcha" on JBE ("you refused to do anything with the COA and i exposed their corruption!")

It would seriously tickle my taint with a dove feather if it's the very next week after he announces the officers are cleared of any crimes in the Sterling case.

Hell some members in the state house could get things in motion if they began to mumble.
