Travel ball is the worst thing to happen to baseball.

This. Most AA/AAA teams play local (within an hour or so of home) tournaments 2 times a month from March-July. Personally I have a son and daughter that play "travel ball." They play in the spring and play basketball, football, volleyball, golf, etc the rest of the year.

The OTs infatuation with Travel Ball continues.
I’ll never understand it.
Only thing I can come up with is that these threads are started by people with no kids or people who didn’t play or doesn’t like baseball.

I started this thread and both my boys play baseball. Not all year around.
You can skip any threads you don't like. FYI

...and look at the response behind it. Of course they’re going to protect themselves by saying “oh, it’s just in jest.” But the OT loves to pile up on the way little league is played now. And it’s always the same usual suspects that, like i said, either have no kids that play, no kids at all, or kids that sucked, or posters that don’t even like baseball. Every single time this topic is brought up.
Just to be clear, I have a 6 year old that plays rec tball. That’s all. I, too, will not allow him to play year round if he even wants to continue to play at all.

Perfect sample size, I am sure you have proven all the experts wrong with example

That's the problem right there. Winners aren't allowed. Winners do.
Traydton plays three games a Saturday. He comes from winners.

Soccer and baseball are the absolute worse here though. 8 and 9 year olds playing up to 50 games a year in some baseball divisions.
Tennis parents invented this shite back in the 80s
Hell, baseball has a long way to go. Little tennis youths get shipped off to training academys at this age to be turned into robots

I couldn't stop Jaycyn from year round travel ball if I tried, he's already worn out two Smartbes going to tournaments this year!

Probably weren't good enough to play Showcase League.

My kid has an injury and can't play this weekend. I won't be able to revel in the glory of having a future college non-athlete playing travel ball this weekend.
I'll probably high five myself all day long as I mow the yard and kill carpenter bees with beer bottles.

My little Kaitleign-Breiyhleigh has torn only one ACL in softball. I figure by the time she gets to 11U she'll have totally forgotten about it.

Sorry to be late to this thread. I was at Trystynn's all day dance recital.

BS.
Most of the teams in S Louisiana play or practice 9-10 months out of the year. Off in August, Dec, and sometimes January.
It's enough to prevent a lot of them from playing any other sport, or, if they do play another sport, that sport is always second fiddle.
I see so many forfeits in flag football and soccer youth games, because the kids have travel baseball tournament.
