I’ve learned from my wife, it is (or used to be) legal in TX to pass on the right and/or shoulder - at least that is what they are taught in Texas

I will say the most interesting experience I've had with this is when you're between Lake Charles and Houston and it goes to 3 lanes.
The left lane is the slow lane. The middle and right lane by default become the passing lanes.
