Will give my $0.02, as i was one of the many Louisiana residents in Atlanta over the weekend. Stayed in Midtown Thursday and Friday night. Walked all over Midtown Friday afternoon. Was certainly quieter than usual but was relatively clean and saw very few homeless.

Will give my one negative impression, which was rather surprising to me. Took my daughter up to look at Agnes Scott on Saturday. Had not been to Decatur in years. They've done a really nice job with historic restoration of their downtown, however, i guess the homeless decided they like the quasi suburban living.

Huge number of homeless in and around the station, which is in the middle of downtown. They were fairly aggressive, numerous, smelly, and most were exhibiting signs of mental illness. Was surprised more evidence up there than Midtown.

Decatur acts like a mini San Francisco.

Aesthetics/topography. It depends on where the suburbs are, of course. All of them will be more treed than Dallas for example. IMO between 75 and 400 on the Northside is where Atlanta shines. Dallas and Houston have really nicely manicured areas - arguably (probably) nicer than Atlanta, but I think Atlanta is considerably above both in natural appeal. It's honestly Atlanta's strongest card against those two cities (perhaps weather too).

It still gets hot there.

It’s not called hot New Orleans, it’s Hotlanta.

I lived there long enough to have gone through a drought and water bans, to fricking Ice storms, even had tree come through my window during Opal.

Prob why Turner freaked out with the climate change and said we’d all be cannibals by now.

Atlanta demographics are trending one way. Cities like Birmingham and New Orleans are trending the other way but its Atlanta that has issues/problems? People are actually moving into city of Atlanta yet they are fleeing Birmingham and New Orleans.

Where the frick did you stay?

This comes off as a troll.

Not a troll. Tried to stay where Delta booked me, which was within 5 miles of the airport... Didn't even get out of the Lyft. Even the driver was like, No way....
Ended up in a decent hotel around Georgia Tech. Delta should be ashamed to use that hotel, and Atlanta should be ashamed of what the airport pickup area, and airport region, looks like at midnight. It was full of unstable, homeless, and dirty people. Oh, and hookers in the hotel parking lot. Truly Horrible.

I listen to Greg McElroys radio show and he always says Birmingham is the nicest city in the south.

IMO yes. Atlanta can be pretty miserable, but it's pretty rare that the lows don't drop into the low/mid 70s. We don't have the sustained run of 100s where the low is 81 overnight. Now our humidity is worse than Dallas, but summer just bleeds into the other seasons worse in Dallas.

I think all three are about the same in severe weather, Houston is obviously worse for flooding and has a bigger hurricane threat I suppose. In recent history I think the ice storm threat is about the same in Dallas/Atlanta.

Buckhead is doing the opposite of gentrification. Cobb county used to be shite and now it’s being gentrified. You can make the appeal for grant park and Inman park for gentrification, but live there at your own risk. You’ll be a victim of a crime down there in no time. Atlanta is a dump

Around the airport is probably the worst part of the city / metro area, cannot compare it to the rest.

You can drive from the Westbank to Kenner & back (distance wise in areas of Atlanta) and not see 5% of the filth, ignorance and 3rd world shitholes that you see in Nola metro.

I grew up in New Orleans & spend almost 30-40% of my life in Atlanta for the past 5 years & Atlanta is 10x’s cleaner, safer and more beautiful than anything Louisiana. There are vast areas that will make Old Metairie and Northshore look average.

There’s plenty of nature, rolling hills, hiking/biking trails, surrounding areas with wineries that have the feel of Napa Valley with mountains in the landscape, not to mention the Economic opportunities having almost 50 Fortune 1000 Corporate HQ’s, solid middle and upper middle class. Job and career growth and upward mobility. Diverse economy and plenty of land available for growth.

Atlanta has 4 legit seasons. Summer gets Hot, but it’s not a Humid Cesspool feeling of NOLA where your glasses fog up every time you leave a building. But around and fall are true seasons and summer doesn’t stick around for long, and winter time, you have legit changes or snow.

Problem for Atlanta is that the Globalist recognize it as a Flagship City to indoctrinate for the future and have sunk their teeth in it.

Walk the Beltline and they have all
Of the Soros/Obama Groups, the ACLU & anti-cop movements indoctrinating and recruiting the youth.

Tons of Soy being planted in Atl, that’s my only gripe, but other than that, it’s a paradise compared to NOLA or Birmingham or Baton Rouge.

It’s by far the nicest big city in the South, plenty of things to do and see for all ages.

So you’re saying ATL is nicer than Charlotte, Greenville, Lexington, Tampa and Nashville. You must be talking about a different ATL that I’ve been to
