No just shitholes like New Orleans and Birmingham. Atlanta, Nashville, and Charlotte seem to be doing just fine.

I’m from Atlanta, moved here in 2003

Still have lots of friends and relatives there, my brother lives in Buckhead

Bham has problems, but not anything near what Atlanta has - city leader here are far better than what Atlanta has

Bruh, Birmingham has had as many homicides this year as Atlanta despite obviously being much smaller. Just stop.

Actually, it isn't:

quote:

Black or African American: 48.2%

White: 41.0%

Asian: 5.0%

Hispanic: 5.0%

Blacks made up nearly 60% of the city's population not just 15 years ago. Like I said earlier this morning, the population has gentrified greatly the last decade and a half. But people don't wanna believe it b/c people only see what they wanna see/believe.

I guess it was about 20, 25 years ago we drove to see LSU play Ga Tech in the Peach Bowl and I idiotically got a hotel near Turner Field. It was pretty ratchet around there but I didn't feel I was in any danger.

And that area has gentrified by leaps and bounds since then.

It's amazing how that area has transformed since Georgia State took over.

I think it's the weirdest thing on Tiger Droppings. People from Baton Rouge and NOLA (and apparently Birmingham) accusing Atlanta of being this shitty hellhole.

TLDR but I upvoted. I don’t ever intend on going past Windy Hill exit for a Braves game here and there for the rest of my life. Atlanta is a 3rd world shithole

Pot calling the kettle black. BR and NOLA are two of the biggest shitholes in the country and they see this bustling, great metropolis in Atlanta(that does have it's issues don't get me wrong) and they get jealous so in order to rationalize the fact that they live in a shitholes they call Atlanta one in order to feel better.

You think it takes 70%? Look at areas over 10% the stats start jumping off the page.

I'll post this for you again since you're slow:

What sets ATL burbs apart from Dallas and Houston for example

Aesthetics/topography.

It depends on where the suburbs are, of course. All of them will be more treed than Dallas for example. IMO between 75 and 400 on the Northside is where Atlanta shines. Dallas and Houston have really nicely manicured areas - arguably (probably) nicer than Atlanta, but I think Atlanta is considerably above both in natural appeal. It's honestly Atlanta's strongest card against those two cities (perhaps weather too).
