Not just trying to give you shite, but these are probably three of the last major cities I would ever choose to live in the United States. They’re alright if you’re a yuppie that loves bland suburban shite, but if you like actual cities with urban character these have very little to offer.

Charlotte.

but I'd wait till this economic collapse happens and there are tons of foreclosures.

then you can pick wherever you want.

there are gonna be a lot of airline furloughs so houses in base cities will have motivated sellers. charlotte is one of those.

LA

He’d probably swap out LA for Portland to get some real grunge and grit.

Atlanta proper has plenty of urban character. Lots of different urban neighborhoods within that city.

I'll give you Charlotte being a pretty bland urban center.

lol I didn't say Portland just because of proximity to Seattle.

If you had to live and work in one of those 3 cities which one would it be?

They are all fine as long as you don’t live inside city limits

This won’t go over well because the OT loves the aforementioned bland suburban shite, but for me:

1) Milwaukee (I moved here last year and I honestly believe it is one of the great hidden gems of America — so much water and nature around for a city not in the West, so many corner bars and old buildings from the 1800s (even my house was built in 1890) — the city runs along Lake Michigan and has beachfront all along the East Side).

2) Albuquerque (The city does have a sprawling layout, but the scenery and access to nature is unbeatable, I love the food, and New Mexican architecture is really interesting).

3) I’ll give you a split answer here: if you want to retain some semblance of a Southern vibe I’d choose Richmond if you’re looking for urban density/things to do, Knoxville if you’re looking for scenery and access to nature, or Birmingham if you want a Deep South feel in a city on the rise. If Southern doesn’t matter to you, I’d give my last pick to Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, or somewhere like Burlington, Vermont — again, it all depends what you’re looking for in terms of size and amenities.

Edit: Louisville is also really great if you’re looking for midsized with a slightly Southern character.

Charlotte, with Nashville a bit behind. Charlotte is just closer to the area of the country that I prefer to spend my free time in.

Atlanta way, waaaaaaaaaay behind those other two. frick that place.

Charlotte is an airport hub for American, so direct flights to pretty much every major airport in the US. Not sure about Nashville. Something to consider to planning on traveling for work if needed in the future. Also closer to the beach and close to the mountains. Nashville has a better music scene obviously, and is “cooler”. Charlotte real estate is probably cheaper. If single or no Kids, I would go with Nashville. If family with kids, I would go with Atlanta. Also if you work in finance, would go with Charlotte (more options for moving up the ladder/changing jobs or companies).

Honestly, all three are pretty similar. Atlanta is obviously the shittiest, but the other two are going to be just like it sooner rather than later.

This is the ot so you already know Atlanta will be last

Atlanta would be last anywhere unless you’re biased because you live in/from Atlanta.
The other two options are much better

1. Charlotte
2. Nashville ( would be #1 ten years ago)
3. Distant third Atlanta. Lived there 6 years and couldn’t wait to leave

Charlotte doesn't have the hoard of hipster locusts like Nashville does.

And Atlanta is...well...Atlanta.
